Over time there have been quite a few threads asking if there was a true difference in quality between JoyeTech batteries and their clones. The issue is I'm talking about here is quality, not bells and whistles. Given how quickly the technology has been changing, thought it might be time to revisit the exercise with a fresh thread and hopefully hear from some that are knowledgable.

Now for the fun part -- I get to show my age:blush:. Back in the day, VCR's were a fairly new and rapidly expanding technology fueled by rapid increases in consumer purchases (predecessor to the DVD and DVR for you young'uns; we used to use them when sitting around the fire while flinting fresh speartips after a hard day of dinosaur hunting).

There were huge arguments and a multitude of consumer reviews comparing the quality differences between the biggest players in the US market at the time -- Sony, RCA and Panasonic. It took a while, but eventually the truth came out that the guts of the machines were identical. The devices were made in the same factory, using the same components, using the same QC, with the only difference being the ordering company's design of the casing.

I can't help but wonder if the innards of some of the "Brand X" eGo batteries are the same as the innards of genuine Joye Tech eGo batteries (Smok Tech comes to mind). Same type of questions would apply to original versus clone clearomizers, the rebuild components for the CE5, tanks, etc etc etc.

The JoyeTech website listing of fake and unauthorized vendors isn't of much use in this discussion: "fake" means devices that carry the Joyetech logos but not "manufactured" by Joye Tech, and "unauthorized" means that the selling company is not paying a distribution fee and/or not puchasing direct from Joyetech.

So.....in the vaping world, does a higher price for a given component from a big name company actually equate to a higher quality?

Hope to hear some opinions and (maybe) hard data.
Dan

They could be the same. They 'seem' to last longer to me, but I'm certainly not an authority. Joye generally warranties their products for 6 months. I don't know if this is voided if you don't purchase directly from them. A few suppliers used to honor this, but from what's posted on websites some suppliers offer less. Bottom line, I usually look for the longest warranty. I've saved a lot that way. I have purchased knock-off batteries too that have died and the suppliers replaced them.

Might come down to who you purchase from.
