It has been a while since I have posted here. So, hi to everyone!

Recently, I had a new guy at work show me his rda, and I was impressed that
how the wick could be replaced, saving the coil. He gave me an old one of his
as a loaner to try out.

Cleaned it up and watched a few videos and read up here on the RDAs.

The rda (unknown what brand) has 1 + and 2 - post. Wire is kanthal A1 30 ga.
Wrapped the wire around a .094" (2.4mm) screwdriver. 6 wraps per coil. I get
1.2-1.3 ohm reading from post to post and from battery connector to - post. On
the EVic, which I had set at 8.9 watts, it gives me "Atomizer Short" notice on the
screen.

The wire seems tight in the post. Though, one of the negative nuts has a chip
out of it. But I tug on the wires and they hold fast.

I have built many battery mods and rebuilt many more attys/cartomizers. So
troubleshooting isn't completely new to me. This has me baffled.

BTW, I'm using IMR 18650 batts. at about 2400 mah.

Thanks!

Not sure how low the evic will fire but if each coil is 1.2 ohm that would put it at .6 total ohm and may not fire it.

^^^ That. If this is an original eVic - not the eVic Supreme - it's not going to fire a dual coil at 0.6 ohm.

However, there is a difference between the eVic having an issue with low ohms and it telling you there is a short. Not knowing what RDA this is or if it has an adjustable center post, if the RDA center post if mis-adjusted it could very well be shorting when touching the eVic 510.

My wife had an evic and I have issues with building coils over 1ohm. the Evic does not like anything under 1.5 or 1.8 ohms i believe. and the built in ohm reader on that device isn't the greatest so it can read lower than the build and cause a "short". Anything around 2 ohms total should work. I ended up giving up on that evic and my wife uses my K100 with 1 ohm builds.
