I found a simple 24ga single worked very well.

Nice pic! Love the design of the NarDA.

What's the purpose of the angled coil? Is it just to fit a longer coil or what?

@67Tele - I just have a simple, single strand coil in my NarDA. I believe it's 26g .6 ohm build. One of the things I love about the NarDA - it performs excellently with a simple, single coil. I'm gonna throw a Clapton in it tonight when I rebuild and see how it vapes.

Sort of thread related: What simple builds have y'all put on the NarDA? Lower or higher resistance? Single coil?

Thanks!

For me, it's a dual 26g kanthal, 7/8 wrap, 2mm every time which comes to around ~0.42 ohms; the only thing I ever change is the inner diameter which I'll occasionally do the exact same build with a 2.4mm inner diameter which should come to ~0.47 ohms.

I tried about 3 or 4 different single coil coil configurations and just didn't care for it; as a matter of fact I was really bummed out with the NarDA until I put duals in it; now it's the best rda I've ever used!

For me, this was the best I got out a single coil in the NarDA; I angled it because I found I got too much of a throat hit when the coil was perfectly centered most likely due to the coil being so far away from the air holes. By angling it, you put the coil closer to each air hole which dramatically reduces throat hit.

It's kinda funny, it seems that everyone loves single coils in the NarDA but me. We're all such similar vapers, it's pretty interesting how even we can experience the same setup so differently.

Interesting. I may have to try the angled coil when I rebuild tonight because I do find I get a fair amount of throat hit with the NarDA and I'm not really after much throat hit.

To be honest, I've never tried a dual coil build in the NarDA. Mainly because it seems somewhat of a pain and I don't feel like dealing with it. I agree that the regulars in here have very similar tastes yet we all seem to do things just a bit differently.

I would highly recommend trying it out at least once. Building duals on this is about as hard as building duals on the snapdragon; it can be a little fiddly but it gets easier with time. First dual coil build on it took me about 45 minutes. Just rebuilt it yesterday in 20 minutes. The vape you get from it is totally worth the effort.

I'll probably give it one try.

I've pretty much shelved the Snapdragon at this point. I've only been using the NarDA and Hobo. I recently rebuilt one of my Tugboat V2s and popped a Slammed Cap on it. Still vapes pretty well but nowhere near the other two.

Got my Nuevo in and built. dual 3mm ID Claptons at .57 ohm. 43.5W. Very nice vape. I'm using the barrel with six airflow holes and it's a good bit more open than the Hobo with comparable flavor. The three airflow hole barrel is still fairly open, probably closer to the Hobo's airflow. Easy as hell to build on (as expected with a two post deck). Fairly large post holes. Definitely well worth the $45.00 asking price. It's attys like this, while not earth shattering or innovative, that really make me not want to spend a lot on them anymore.

The next dripper I have my eye on is the Tsunami by GeekVape. It's got a Kennedy 24 airflow with a two post four hole setup like the Velocity. Yeah, I was harsh on the Kennedy before but GeekVape really seem to be putting out quality, affordable attys and I'm willing to take the chance on that type of deck for the $30-ish it will cost.

Solstice by N8

I'm agree with @jhhollier about affordable atties. I built the Solstice last night. 26g dual 3mm ID .53 ohm at 51W. As noted, the build quality is top notch. Building was easy with enough room for my fat fingers to finagle the coils around.

I need to play with the coil positioning and see what happens. Probably need to raise the coils a bit. Large enough post holes. Took a little pressure to get my hex screw driver to turn the posts. The included allen wrench worked better.

As I have it now the flavor is on par with the Origen V3 or Marquis with the added bonus of more airflow. It's a very "even" style vape. Full and not all that wispy even full open. It's a cool vape at 47W with more flavor than at 51W. Surprising amount of cloudage produced for the resistance/wattage. Loki tip fits great.

The only niggle I have with it and it should be an easy fix are the o-rings for the barrel. As mentioned they're thin and weak. The o-rings on the top cap are solid. Because of this I need to take the barrel off and hold it while twisting the top cap to adjust the AFC. Not that big a deal but, I'm hoping this is something N8 addresses in a newer version.

Completely happy with it though. Flavor is wonderful. Degrees of AFC are good and noticeable. Well built. Solid. A good deal for the price. Curious to hear @HeiSINberg 's report.

The NarDA will have to wait until I get a BF mod.

Ok so I built the Solstice last night, but I didn't post cause I wanted to give it some time and I wanted to give @67Tele the chance to post first since it was him who wanted to really get this and brought it up, so without further to do here is my take on it.

First off I have to comment on quality and the heft of this rda, it's pretty damn heavy and nothing is wrong with it at all. I'm only touching on what was already mentioned and I totally agree with everything that's been said about it. Only thing is I'm not having the o-ring problem, but then again I haven't taken it apart since I've been vaping it. I'm able to take my drip tip out without popping the whole top off like I watched in grimm greens video of it. No leaking so far, and absolutely NO SPIT BACK. Huge plus for me. I put a 12 wrap 24g kanthal around a 9/64 bit ohming out to .62 and I threw it on my noisy cricket so ramp up is non existent. I noticed the inside is pretty small once the top cap is on so I'd watch how high you build your coils. I placed my coils pretty close to the air holes so maybe that's why spit back isn't there, who knows, but I am interested to put different builds in this already and I'm only on build 1, that's a good thing imo. If I didn't want to build this it would be a problem.

Also I really love the way the posts are angled like this, it makes building a breeze and it makes it able to take smaller coils. You know how most regular round posts kinda stretch out the smaller wrapped coils cause it's round and the leads don't have the room to move over, not on this. Plus it gives the leads coming out the back there own spot out of the way to be able to be cut and bent up. Sorry if that doesn't make sense it's hard to explain.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this rda, especially at its price point of 60-65$. To me it's a hobo 3.1's little brother/sister. If the air holes were a little smaller and there was a single coil option it would be exactly like it. Would I recommend it as a back up to the hobo? Most definitely. I love it and I am not upset with my purchase in the least. This is going in my line up. Narda, Hobo 3.1, Solstice, and Aeolus V2 Pro. Hope I explained everything ok and sorry for the lengthy rehash of what was already technically said.

You're killing me smalls. Mine was delivered to my buddy's house but we got enough snow that I'm not going anywhere and doubt he is too lol.

Nice review! And thanks!
I just rewicked. Much more judicious and looking more like HeiSINberg's now. And yeah, the airflow is much rounder and encompassing. I raised the coils a little but lowered them back down to align with the air slots. More flavor this way it seems. I do want to try a Hobo now to see the comparison.

Lmao!! Sorry. But at least you know that you got a winner coming soon. And screw this weather by the way, I'm sick of it already.

No problem, thanks for suggesting this! I wanna put a smaller coil in it and close the air flow a little on each side. Then you would really be able to compare it to the hobo. Like you said the air flow is bigger and I have mine wide open so it is more airy as it stands. But I'll wait a little bit and vape this build for a while before I break it down and do a more complete side by side.
