Does anybody know how to turn the temp control off in these darn things? I want to use mine in regular mode and it has somehow gotten itself in TC mode. HELP
You can leave the temp set and use a kanthal coil on a dna40. It doesn't hurt anything. If the dna40 doesn't detect a change in resistance when fired it doesn't attempt to do temp limiting. You can see this on the device when you fire it the temp will change to blank when using a kanthal coil.
Yes, it will only temp limit if it senses the wire changing resistance enough. You can turn temp limiting off for Ni200 but there is no need for Kanthal it won't try to do it.
Good to know. Since you know so much about it the rDNA, how about the temp protection, where does one generally want it set? It was set at 450 when I got it and during all of this fiddling around I managed to set it to 600
I like 380 F, 420 is probably a good place to start and adjust until you get the best flavour with enough vapour staying as low as you can, if you have to go over 450 F you probably need more airflow or contact area on your coil.
