What works best for me is this:

Run over to a Crafts/Fabric store. buy a big back of Poly-fill batting - the same stuff used in pillows. It will run you about $3-$4 and will last you a life time.

Ceo--Glad you found the right stuff--now you can forget about spending money on cartridges and not worry if they are sold out!!! Got to like Terraphon's Videos!---Sun

Yeah...it'll be 2084 before I have to buy new cartridges.

A penny saved........

Hey folks. This video is in another thread, elsewhere, but since this is a 401 forum I think it belongs here.

This is a video tutorial on how to revamp your 401 cartridges.

Hope it helps!

Yes indeed, it helped. In the vid, he's stuffing them wet. I was stuffing them dry, and wetting them last. My way was much more difficult. Details, details, details.

thanks a million,

I bought a package of Lamp Wicks today. Not the flat wide kind but the round pencil size kind. They fit into my M401, DSE Super Mini, and DSE 103 perfectly. I simply snip the wick to the correct length and it's worked like a charm. Haven't been using it long so I don't know of any long-term effects. But it DOES seem to hold more E-Liquid. The reason I thot of this was because I had apparently gotten a piece of fiber on my atty from the original cartridge --- ZOMG what a NASTY taste that burnt poly fiber was. I was spitting for 2 hours lol. I like the cotton : ).

BTW, if you don't mind me asking a silly question, when do you know it's time to replace the wool?

It will eventually start to break down and thin out. When this happens you'll notice that it holds very little juice and runs dry much faster than it used to.

Those are the cues I look for.

what about the whole deal with the burning cart filler material everyone was talking about with the Vapor 4 Life e-cigs? I am new to this, so maybe I am not keeping up fast enough.

I'm unfamiliar with that e-cig, to be honest. I'm not sure if it's got a 1 piece cartridge / atomizer or how they're configured.

I wish I could be more help with that but I have no experience with it :(

If I am not mistaken- it's a KR808D (2 pc Ecig) with the atomizer built into the cart (cartomizer) - I didn't much care for them myself but the batteries seem to work well on a DSE901 Atty...(burning cartomizer problem solved-for me at least)
