Reaching my limits

Not quite, cowboy. If you look at the (short) history of e-cigs, and members of this forum, you'll see that the number of people willing to try it has increased. But if the manufacturers were to produce a quality product, that number would go up exponentially and they would greatly benefit from attachment sales (carts, cores, juice etc).

Judging from recent posts here, more people will give up vaping altogether if they continue to build an inferior product.

Only problem I see with a quality product is how much are we going to pay for it? I can invision a product costing us hundreds of dollars possibly if it going to last that long. I don't think the average smoker will lay out that kind of money to experiment. The way the product is designed now I don't think they can design a product that lasts forever. Atomizers produce heat. Heat is a big killer of any product. Take the fans out of your PC and that thing will be dead in no time. Then your batteries are another thing. Batteries have gotten better but still none that last any great period of time. Then you have the juice which is a liquid which also kills things over time. Mix it all together and its amazing they last any period of time. Hopefully they will make something reliable in the future at a reasonable price.

I stuck with the penstyle and 901 since the beginning and boy am I glad I did!! Apart from the batteries in the 901 becoming crappier and crappier as time went on, the atomisers all work just fine, not many problems at all I also stuck to the same 2 suppliers from the start. The only other I have tried is the EVO which is also quite good!

You get what you pay for. I would gladly shell out $30 for a truly superior battery with a warranty to back it up.

Wow, these "bummer threads" are a real eye opener. Thanks to everyone for pulling my head out of the clouds: so "quitting" won't be such a cakewalk after all. I'm going on a week with no analogs, and I'm ready to deal with the hassles if it means freedom from the smell, the guilt, the nagging fear of what those things will do to me in the end.

Now, where's the best place to order 901 atomizers and batts in bulk?

What we need is Wal-Mart to start selling e-cigs. Then the Chinese manufacturers will have to make a better product or will have to deal with Walmart and it's unsatisfied customers.

this means the need to keep shipping out quick replacement parts which every good western seller has to do.. is f-cked up..

the supply chain is broken... this wont bother real newbies so much.. they just wont get their product... so what..

their problems will start when they do... the resellers are gonna be having major problems giving this wonderful ship the day before the order is placed service..

i have no bloody atomizers.. no one in the UK has any bloody atomizers..

the chinese factories really are working two shifts a day seven days a week.. long term more factories.. short term big supply problems...

i think i am nearly two weeks away from getting any bloody atomizers.. from any source..

OK, I'm new...but I got the Njoy pen style and it seems pretty good. Been about a month now (fingers crossed) and they SAY they have a one year warranty. Does anyone know if this is possibly made in the states or do they get it from China like everyone else? If you look at their site it seems to imply it's in the states (patents filed for manufacture, based in Scottsdale Az, bla bla, bla).

I think this thread has opened my eyes. Thank you. Personally I love this little device and its quirks. But I am the kind of person who enjoys fixing things. I too am getting tired dealing with the issues that are caused by poor Chinese manufacturing. I think we as a community should start looking into putting pressure on them. The problems I have seen lately are caused by poor manufacturing. But you have to keep in mind the way that the way the engineers and manufacturers in china are looking at our products. They are viewing it as more of a novelty item (like a novelty lighter) that is for occasional use. Some of them are trying to break free of this idea but they are probably still held back by old manufacturing habits. For example, the tape holding together the innards of a particular e-cig is the same tape that I believe it was intended to be used for baked goods or something as it says “Fresh Everyday” in English and Mandarin. They are using slightly scrap goods to make our devices. They are probably using filament wire rejected by some light bulb factory to make our atomizer coils. (Please keep in mind I am just speculating and I am just ranting a little) anyway I am against disposables. I am a fan of durable goods. I am kind of upset that everything is made to be thrown away now days. Think about it for a second. If you look around you can still find washing machines and refrigerators from 1950 still in running order and now you are very lucky to find one from 1985 that is still whirring away. Most things are able to be repaired (Unless they are specially designed not to be) including atomizers. As I come up with new ideas I will be posting them in the Mod files. (sorry for getting a bit off topic If I am rambling too much just PM me and I will remove it)

Ditto!!... I haven't ordered from Ruyan Direct yet, but had saved them in my "favorites" for my next parts order. Not only are they very cheap... but they also have a 1 year warranty on parts !!!!!!!!!

Granted... it would be a pain to mail/ship parts back to China each time just one goes bad.. but if parts are bought in bulk -- and sent BACK in bulk (within the year warranty... (assuming they'll go out just as quickly as all of rest of the parts have so far) ... just seems like this is the way to go!! The way I've been going through parts, the (very common) 14 day warranty offered by many suppliers isn't working well, plus paying at least $4.00 or more extra for each replacement part.

This is my first post here. I know this is an old thread, but I'm wondering if any of these issues have gotten any better with newer products. Based on other threads I've read on this board - including and especially this one - ecigs at the moment are simply too unreliable, too much hassle, and too high-priced to warrant me putting out more bucks that I can't really afford to spend on this addiction.

If I buy a product, I expect it to work consistently as advertised with a minimum 6-month warranty on parts. I expect prompt, courteous, helpful, and pleasant customer service when needed, and I expect that any problems I may have will be resolved with minimal delay. None of these products appear to even come remotely close to these standards.

Trog's last post in this thread concerns me as well. I realize it was made four months ago, but are supplies of necessary parts still an ongoing problem?

I've seen several recommendations in this thread for the ScrewDriver, and I got the impression from one of trog's posts that there are disposable units available. Are they really available at this point, and if so, what's the cost?

In addition, I read part of an article today in the paper that said that any of these things made in the US can still be sold, but imports of these items and parts for them will be stopped/banned for the time being. Given the newest threads regarding imports being stopped by customs, is this really a viable alternative now that the gov't and big tobacco have their sticky fingers in the mix?

I'm still not sold on this. It may be a healthier alternative, but it seems to me it's a lot like the old (many, many years ago) joke about buying a Jaguar: you have to buy two of them; one to drive, and the other for parts. If I have to go through all of what has been described in this and other threads on this board just to get my nic fix...well, as I said, I'm still not sold, and for that, I have to say a huge thank you to everyone who has posted on this board for giving me the benefit of your experiences with these products.

Honestly, all you need to be happy in vaping is a USB power and a reliable atomizer - the new 901 and 801 atomizers are extremely reliable lasting 2+ months in my experience. With regards to USB power and batts - any cable that lacks a chip has proven to be the most reliable for me. This is mainly the manuals. Anything with electronic control will fail eventually - which is why manuals are the best choice for reliability.

Gashin's right on the mark- I tried his manual passthrough with a couple of different 801's and they work well- and I am so glad not to have a light and a chip thinking it through for me. I started 2 months ago, and nothing has died on me of any natural death so far- one or two things were DOA but anything I've put into service for both me and the mrs. hasn't given the slightest sign of failing yet.

This is a great thread, but I hope this does not hender people from vaping. I too have gone through problems with suppliers and faulty equipment. I went from a pack a day to 5 cigs at the begining then my parts went bad and i paniced and was smoking more than ever before. I got my replacement parts from the suppliers and bought lots of spares. It took me a while but I finally told myself this juice is now my brand and I will not purchase any more analogs. The first couple days were hard but I got through it. I now have not had any analogs for 2 months this friday. That is unbeleivable to me. I had tried everything and nothing worked. I was accepting the fact that I would be a smoker for life and would probably die of cancer. I felt like a ...... addict. I had smoked a pack and a half for 15 years and hated it. I also had a hard time adjusting to the ecig. It doen't smoke like an analog and there is definetly a learning curve till you can hit it right without drinking juice or learnig the right way to fill your cart or drip etc. I believe this contraption has saved my life. I am always rolling around with my dura c and sd and I love them both. I am waiting on the janty stick and prodigy. So be patient and keep coming to this community to help your transition to vaping. I promise if you dont quit and keep trying you can get off analogs and hopefully not need an ecig either. I would also add that paying for some liquid and disposable attys along with a couple of starter kits is far cheaper in the long run than analogs. Plus can you really put a price on the chance of avoiding cancer. I love my ecigs and vaping!
