Read through the newbie posts, have a few questions...

Hello all! This is my first post to the forums and I am very excited to be here!

I originally ordered through Joycig.com. When I ordered, the site said the starter pack was in stock. However, days later my order was still pending and, when contacted, support told me that they were back-ordered, but my shipment would be out that day or the next. Well, three days later, I am still in back-order status and after contacting again, was told they were expecting their supplies Thursday of next week!

In fewer words, as a new-comer, I do not recommend Joycig.com for any services.

Now, I decided to try this forum for tips from the experts.

My story - I am a relatively heavy smoker (a pack or so a day) and have tried to quit several times. After hearing about ecigs and finding that the chemicals known for the health aspects were taken out, I wanted to try ecigs.

Working on a budget, what is a good place to start?

Joycig was offering a starter kit with 20 cartridges and 20 extra for an additional 10 dollars for a total price of $65.

Another question - How does using ejuice work? I have skimmed the forums, have not seen a detailed set of instructions... If I can get away with buying bottles of liquid as oppose to buying cartridges, I could save even more money, yes?

Anyway, that is enough for now methinks! Thanks to any and all who respond and I look forward to joining you all!

-Troy

I've never tried or checked out Joycig. Some of the bigger well known brands are greensmoke, Vapor4Life, VaporKing, V2cig, Theres tons of info on each brand on this forum

As far as juices and refilling, It depends what ecig "type" you end up getting. Don't mix up Cartridges with Cartomizers. You'll most likely end up using Cartomizers. There are different forms (510, KR808, etc) and each can normally be refilled. There are tons of youtube videos on how to refill. Companies also sell blank cartos for you to start off with your juice of choice.

Once you get a handle on how it all works, the big question is what brand/flavor juice are you going to use

Also, congratulations on making the leap of faith! It's well worth it and as you'll read on these forums, these thing work wonders!

The stickys, particularly MistressNomad's video series, watch them.

ECF library thread, read the 6 posts titled Welcome to the Wonderful World of Vaping.

You'll learn more about the types and how to work them than you can imagine with those two sources in the shortest amount of time possible.

I'll let others proceed with their suggestions.

A cartomizer (aka carto) is an atomizer and cartridge in one.

It is used for convenience vs a cartridge...cartos hold more juice.

Best bet is to buy samplers from different suppliers and wait for sales to try out the different flavors.

Check out MistressNomad's vids on intros to vaping (juice, hardware, etc)...she does an awesome job in explaining a lot of things that are probably confusing you now.

You need to read the stickies at the top of the page, that's where it all starts to make sense.

You should start here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

Highlights:
*the two most common and highly recommended starter kits: 510 and kr808-1
*for better enjoyment you MUST refill using juice of your choice
*you can get a good kit for WAY WAY less than what you were about to pay....

Good luck! (really, watch the videos)

I will +1 Hoosier's response! Both of those areas were the biggest help to me!!

Hi troyplokhooy.
Welcome to the forum!
Other good vendors here: Welcome to MadVapes LLC or Electronic Cigarette Supplies & Electronic Cigarette Refills for Name-Brand Electronic Cigarettes! E-Cigs from LiteCigUSA

You can definitely save money by refilling with bottles of e-juice purchased from a supplier.
Here are a couple good e-juice vendors: Gourmet Vapor or Best Electronic Cigarettes - Freedom Smokes Inc.

Eventually, you may want to make your own e-juice. Read here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/

and check out this 6 part vid series: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

Good luck in all your future vaping endeavors!

The two most popular starting models are
Joye 510 (note the e in Joye, no relation to Joycig)
KR808D-1 and in colors aka Vapor King at Vapor4Life and also sold by BloogPlanet
Read this comparison
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html

And for heavy smokers, there are fat battery models (for 510 there are Ego and Riva 510, for KR8 there is Elegant Easy by CigEasy). The fat battery models give 6-8 hour battery life and the optional ability to use more power hungry LR (low resistance) parts that can give a bigger hit.

Whoever said Greensmoke - I say no. They charge $50 for a battery! Batteries should be under $20. And Greensmoke is E9 aka KR808D-2, incompatible with all of the KR808D-1 stuff
