Been off the forum for a while. So..... I'm not on the up and up of the latest and greatest.

I've been using Readyx wick for a while. I don't think it lasts as long as people say it does. I usually rebuild my wick every 2 weeks or so. Just seems to perform better with a new wick.

Anyhow, this stuff is good, but is it $18 a foot good? Anybody find anything else that works as well? If not, I'll get another foot of the stuff, but I feel like I'm being raped and I don't like walking around with my pants down around my ankles.

:)

Me thinks it's $8/ft and for me a foot lasts a really really long time. YMMV. 8 bucks ain't great but I don't feel violated.

Do you dry burn your wick to clean it? I do, and I don't even take it out of the coil. Cleans up real well.

Only 2 weeks? Hmmmm... do you dry burn regularly and not disturb it once set? Should last much longer! I have had all my wicks last over a month easily. Dry burn every few days until it gets nice & white again. I bought a foot in the beginning of last year and lasted me all year! I use a little less than 1/2" per wick. $8 for a years worth of wick is cheap in my opinion. Cotton and other wicking material may be cheaper but a lot more hassle replacing wicks constantly. Just think it's still better than paying $9.00 for a pack of stinkies!! Now THAT'S getting raped!!!!

Same here, I get almost 2 months from each piece of wick, could probably go longer but get bored.

I bought some new RxW this past Halloween merely for future use. I probably won't even open the packages until late 2015 or early 2016 at this rate. I still have both 2mm and 3mm that I purchased I think 11/13. I bought 2ft of 2mm and 1ft of 3mm back then and have yet to go through it yet. All I can say is that if you are getting only 2 weeks out of your wicks, it is due to user error and only user error. Most people get at least 2 months per wick and that is mostly, (as FB said), out of boredom and wanted to put in new coils. The people I have seen try RxW and get subpar performance and give up on it, was due to user error... It's not for everyone and if you don't take the time to view the video's and read the threads that some of us veterans have contributed to, it's your loss... This is the best wicking on the market, hands down.

I should say, I could easily get more than 2 weeks out of it. I've just dry burned a couple times and I think I did it too long as it tasted burnt after. To say this stuff doesn't burn is bs, I think. $8 a foot? What a fool I am, heh.

Try rinsing and pulsing dry until all the burnt juice is gone after every bottle or two. With regular cleaning it will last a long time.

I rinse and clean quickly when I refill a bottle. It just take a few seconds and keeps it tasting good as new.

I like the CelluCotton a lot. I have a few of my REOs set up with it, and some with Ready-X, and a couple with KGD. I like them all. I don't really do sub-ohm (stay around 1.0 ohms) so I don't know that it really matters that much for a lightweight like me. I like that the Ready-X is soooo low maintenance. I barely even have to ever dry burn it because I use really light-weight, clean juices as well.

If anyone wants to try some CelluCotton....I have a 150-years supply that I'll be happy to share. All it takes is a PM.....standing offer to anyone.

James, how are you performing your dry burn?
RXW will absolutely not burn when subjected to the heat from from the tip of a butane flame or a red hot coil.

It simply won't.

Still in the "future Reo owner" stage o' things but as for RXW, 2 months on a wick easy.

Actually, it *seems* to me that it actually works better after a few weeks and a few dry burns than it does when it's new. I like it much better after it's a little broken in. YMMV for sure.
I agree with this 100% I'm still trying to figure out how I can reuse my wick when I rebuild the cyclone. IMO it just keeps getting better with age.

I suspect you are tasting kanthal after dry burn. Try rinsing after your dry burns it will flush away all the little black bits that pop off your Coil also.

I usually rinse the thing out every couple days in hot water, blow it dry by blowing on it, pad it down with a paper towel. Then I hit the button till it glows, stop, do it again a few times. Then I squonk and after a few hits it comes back. It just seems after a couple weeks the taste is not so great, so I replace it.

The only time it burnt or seemed burnt was when I did a dry burn in my car when it wasn't doing so great and I dry burned it for about 10 seconds and after that it tasted like crap. But I was in the car, so I couldn't rinse it. So perhaps it was just juice that burned onto the wick and I couldn't get the burnt taste out.

Appreciate the offer for free wick, but for some dumb reason I thought it was $18 a foot. I guess that shows how long I've had that foot, as I forgot how much I paid for it. :D

If u do find that rxw just Isn't your thing..... many have been raving about the koh gen doh....I have not used it. I do use the cellucotton/rayon sometimes and it is great and seems to last longer than cotton for me. I use rayon to dial In my builds then once I'm happy with my coils I pull the rayon and insert rxw. That way I don't waste expensive wick material while playing around.

Are you rinsing after your dry burn? If not then you are just juicing over the ash and left over crusty bits.

Yummm. That's exactly what I've been doing. See, I learn everything the hard way and do things ... backwards all the time. I've been rinsing, dry burning a few times and then vaping.

So you say rinse, burn, rinse burn? I'm assuming you do this with no bottle attached as you wouldn't want to get water down the tube, although that is probably unlikely.

I rinse mine with a trickle from sink, dry burn, hit with a torch lighter to touch it up and then go.
