Wow.... This thread just all of a sudden picked up today!!! I know I can sometimes, make that always, come off with the its so easy to use but I have been using it for almost a year exclusively! So for me it is very simple to use and, imo, the most cost effective and easiest maintenance wicking material available on the market. I purchased 1ft of the 2mm in March of last year and just used the last of it wicking my Nuppin' a few days ago. I do have another 4ft in the vape box, so I should be set for a while now. I also use the 3mm and have a few feet of it on hand too. I have found it best suited to use a 1/16" mandrel for the 2mm and 3/32" for the 3mm. Was it always easy for me to use, the answer is no. I had my trial and error period, though very short, I got it though. It wasn't until I had cataract surgery 2 weeks ago that I could actually see well enough to do it quickly. It was much easier to wick it being able to see it clearly...

From my experience reading posts of people that have used RxW and failed, it is 99% of the time, user error... The reason I say this is the tools, (methods), for using it are on the RBA Supplies website and in a few threads here on ECF by experience users... Yet for some reason most failed users posted that they used a 2mm, 5/64", 3/64", 1/8", some screwdriver they don't know what size it was, a coat hanger, a Q-tip, or something other than what was recommended by the mfg'r himself and give up on it because it didn't work. They didn't take the time to read and understand what is recommended and works best with it.

The best starting point is directly from RBA Supplies and Jeremy recommends 1/16" for 2mm and 7/64" for 3mm. Though a few of us here in the forum have found 3/32" to work best for 3mm, but again that is a recommendation that most either didn't read or didn't get the concept of... User error...

No where, is it recommended to wick a coil w/ RxW the same as cotton or rayon, yet people expect it to... User error...

I have read some remove it from the coil to clean and dry burn the coils and expect it to go back in the coils again... User error...

I have read that people actually cut a 1/2" - 1" piece to wick the coil and it failed... User error...

Let's face it, RxW is not for everyone... I will say that if you want a cost effective / low maintenance wicking, do some reading, watch some video's, and give it a fair shot using the recommended tools to do it right before you give up on it and call it a failure... To me it's as easy as, just make your coils, mount them, fire and work out hot spots/legs, wick it by screwing it in the coil in the direction of the coil as if it was threading a screw into a nut, and finally feeding and vaping with it... Again, I have been using it exclusively and it "seems" this easy to me. I know it will not be that easy for most people and just want to extend that myself and several other experienced users here will help anyone troubleshoot and correct any problems they have with RxW...

Here are a couple threads that have some very useful info in them for RxW...

I know brother :) I think it just comes across the wrong way to people, especially when it's all a reiteration of the same things said and capped before in this thread. I understand though. That's why I deleted my original post - and it wasn't directed specifically at any one person. I'll say though for the record, my interest went from 0 in this product, to about -100 because of the tone set in general by RXW users. Part of the reason for that is in praising this product many mistruths are told about other wicking materials. We all have our own preferences and I'm sure this is a good product and all, but, yeah.

I love you Rudy, and hope you took no offense by my comments or anything of the sort brother :) vape strong my man.

PS oh rudy bro, you knew I was saying I deleted my post - not asking you to delete yours, I hope... now I feel really bad bro :(

No worries;
I just think the overall prior opinion suggesting that people who use RxW have a better than thou attitude and accusing people who don't like it of doing things wrong is not a fair statement. I believe that most people here are trying to share their experience to others after experimenting and spending time doing trial and error then passing information along to perhaps lead others to a better vaping experience. Some info may seem detailed but I'm sure that it is delivered with good intent, not shoving it down your throat saying this way or the highway. Okay I'm done venting now, breath in,,, breath out,,,, move on!

Me too!
I was the king of burning out my cotton wicks! Never liked needing to pay attention to squonking methods and frequency. Over squonking, making sure wick is wet enough, was it getting dry, how many hits before too dry and burn out wick, take 1 too many hits ,bang burnt wick, try to change wick at a stoplight or while driving. Me and cotton did not get along, I need fool proof, low maintenance!
Not saying what I use! :)

Just for the heck of it, I'm going to say that 2.5 mm is the best for 3 mm and see what happens.

:toast:

Well now, I think that's just your opinion.

Actually, I think that every single post in every single thread in every single forum on the internet is just someone's opinion. We're all just people talking.....

Opinion? But I stated it as a fact, doesn't that make it so?

(wishing I could find a "pot-stiring icon of some kind to insert here)

We agree to disagree. I think both of our positions are fair :) for instance a post slightly above yours is intolerable I stopped reading after 2 sentences - same ramblings of every post in this thread prior, yawn...

I'll just say if anyone says RXW has a grace period and implies nothing else does, it's not true. If anyone burned a non-RXW wick, user error user error user error :) LOL (how do you burn cotton? HOW?)

This thread is hilarious :)

I'm outta this thread for good now, you peeps are too much for me. Vape on :vapor: and stop the damned user error rants...

I fully agree that this thread has moved into the "hilarious zone" towards the end but accept it as forum ramblings.

I give merit to the thread because it opened my eyes to giving it a try. I'm all for seeing what's out there. Will it be the "cat's meow or crap" maybe. But I love the journey and joy of tinkering and trying to enhance my vape experience.

A friend gave me a piece to try over the weekend and I must say I like it and did struggle for a bit getting it in my 2.5 mm coil but in the end got it in and so far like the experience. Do I like KGD...yes. Do I like RxW so far...yes. Is one the Holy Wick...no but I have options now [emoji6]

My initial impression is that it's cleaner looking on my build than having soaked KGD. But that's only my initial aesthetics impression. I haven't played around with the cleaning and dry burning yet either [emoji4]

Since this is an alternative thread for RxW - I will say I have 2 Divos wicked with mesh - 400 whatever - single coil 28g around 1.2ohm...I love the vape of mesh. I haven't put mesh in my Nuppin cause honestly I have never used a dual mesh build and when I did try with the nuppin i didn't like it...go figure.

I never realized - because I have only used a handful of atties with my Reo - there are differences between coils and wicks! Extreme differences - at least in my experience.
