Wow.... This thread just all of a sudden picked up today!!! I know I can sometimes, make that always, come off with the its so easy to use but I have been using it for almost a year exclusively! So for me it is very simple to use and, imo, the most cost effective and easiest maintenance wicking material available on the market. I purchased 1ft of the 2mm in March of last year and just used the last of it wicking my Nuppin' a few days ago. I do have another 4ft in the vape box, so I should be set for a while now. I also use the 3mm and have a few feet of it on hand too. I have found it best suited to use a 1/16" mandrel for the 2mm and 3/32" for the 3mm. Was it always easy for me to use, the answer is no. I had my trial and error period, though very short, I got it though. It wasn't until I had cataract surgery 2 weeks ago that I could actually see well enough to do it quickly. It was much easier to wick it being able to see it clearly...
From my experience reading posts of people that have used RxW and failed, it is 99% of the time, user error... The reason I say this is the tools, (methods), for using it are on the RBA Supplies website and in a few threads here on ECF by experience users... Yet for some reason most failed users posted that they used a 2mm, 5/64", 3/64", 1/8", some screwdriver they don't know what size it was, a coat hanger, a Q-tip, or something other than what was recommended by the mfg'r himself and give up on it because it didn't work. They didn't take the time to read and understand what is recommended and works best with it.
The best starting point is directly from RBA Supplies and Jeremy recommends 1/16" for 2mm and 7/64" for 3mm. Though a few of us here in the forum have found 3/32" to work best for 3mm, but again that is a recommendation that most either didn't read or didn't get the concept of... User error...
No where, is it recommended to wick a coil w/ RxW the same as cotton or rayon, yet people expect it to... User error...
I have read some remove it from the coil to clean and dry burn the
coils and expect it to go back in the
coils again... User error...
I have read that people actually cut a 1/2" - 1" piece to wick the coil and it failed... User error...
Let's face it, RxW is not for everyone... I will say that if you want a cost effective / low maintenance wicking, do some reading, watch some video's, and give it a fair shot using the recommended tools to do it right before you give up on it and call it a failure... To me it's as easy as, just make your coils, mount them, fire and work out hot spots/legs, wick it by screwing it in the coil in the direction of the coil as if it was threading a screw into a nut, and finally feeding and
vaping with it... Again, I have been using it exclusively and it "seems" this easy to me. I know it will not be that easy for most people and just want to extend that myself and several other experienced users here will help anyone troubleshoot and correct any problems they have with RxW...
Here are a couple threads that have some very useful info in them for RxW...
