Just recieved a foot of 2mm ReadyxWick in the mail today, and after a 15 minute boil in distilled water, I pulled my cotton off my Trident's .49 ohm dual microcoil build and so far I'm impressed with the crispness of the flavor, but as of right now it's not quite as strong of a flavor as cotton. I've heard they perform a bit better with non-microcoils, so later I'll do coils with some spacing, but the question is: Do ceramic wicks have a break in time like SS mesh? From my genesis days, I remember the flavor getting better and better as I used the same mesh wick, so does the Ceramic improve over time? Or is it more of a function of my coils not being spaced?

I'm using a modified Trident V2 on a Reo Grand with upgraded contacts, so it is a bottom feeder. Using 28 gauge kanthal and Sony VTC5 batteries. mount baker Vapor Caramel Candy, 100% VG, 12mg/nicotine.

Can I ask why you boiled it?? I have readyxwick also, I use it in my Taifun's and one of my Gennie's, but I never boiled it prior to use.

I think it gives a cleaner flavor than cotton, and I find that xwick is best after a couple of hours sitting in e liquid. Its very absorbent, but I find it wicks slower than cotton, specifically with high VG juices. It performs the best with 50/50 blends IMO.

I put readywick in gennys and my feeder but I wasn't really happy I never got past a little lack of flavor compared to cotton and I think in a feeder you really want cotton to hold that extra juice.

Looks like in your pic, the flex of the wick is causing it to be tighter on the edges and middle of your coils, it's not uniform like cotton would be.... Does that make sense?

I have some 2mm and want to use it in the Taifun. The manual I have says to use three stands of 2mm. Did you wrap the coil and put the three stands of Redyxwick in after the wrap, if so what was your technique? Or do you wrap around the strands themselves? I am new to the Taifun and the ceramic wick.

Thanks

With the 2mm, I would build a micro with a 16ga syringe needle, cut the wick at a taper, and thread into the coil. I'd then run a 20ga needle through the wick. I now use 3mm in my Kayfuns and drippers now, exclusively... anything from a 1.6 coil for my GFs regulated, down to .20 dual setup in my Stillare. I wrap on a 12ga, thread in, then run a 16ga through it. Seems to work well.... cleaner flavor than cotton, and wicks as well or better when setup right.
