Any hints on trapping parallel coils guys, I'm about out of ideas to get a parallel coil secured.

I've managed to get a really nice tight parallel coil in 28g but for the life of me I'm not able to secure it without folding the legs.

I've thought about slotting a couple washers to fit the wire but locating thick tiny washers has eluded me.

Ideas?

Maurice

Twist each leg until they look like 1 wire each.

I cut cable with a cut-off wheel, I wrap it tightly in several layers of thread to keep the cable tightly wound while cutting. Tape works but results in a sticky residue that needs removal. Bypass cutters can crush the cable, at least the cutters I own do. I buy a foot or two and just pre cut as many wicks as I can from it, at $0.35 per foot it's not a big deal if you mess one or two up.

Wrapping the ends of a parallel coil has eluded my skill, every time I've tried it kinks the parallel coil section.

+1 on these cable cutters. I was astonished how easy it was to cut SS rope with them. In three minutes I had small baggies full of different size and length rope for various gennies I have around here.

Yep. The first time I bought ss cable, just to try, I was at our local Ace Hardware. The guy grabbed his set of cuters and snapped it off so easy. I said "Wow...I need a set of those". He said that they were kind of pricey; but I didn't care. Had to have them.

I didn't think the price was too bad after having tried to use tin snips.

How often do you change those wire wicks? Since I can buy precut pieces, I am wondering if buying bulk wire and cutters is worth it.

I can't imagine you'd ever wear out a piece of SS Rope so once you have some in your desired size you should be set for life.

Way back I'd gotten 3 feet each of 2mm and 2.5mm from the mesh company pretty cheap, then add on the 25-30 bucks for those cable cutters. You'd need to buy quite a few of the precut pieces from Kidney Puncher to break even, but I like to have at least two of each diameter at the correct length for each gennie.

Plus I tend to go overboard on things.

I wrap it like you do with the wick in wick hole. No ho spots and I just upped my wraps from 4 to 5, getting a cooler vape but the flavor is still rather dry. I think it has something to do with the mesh, I currently have 325 hollow, with 500 inside the hollow. Everyone says different things about which grade mesh and whether it should be hollow or solid. I'm using a max vg custard and if each genny build didn't take so long I'd try every possible combo of solid, hollow, and grades of mesh but after like 20 failed attempts it gets a bit frustrating. I've done rope with mesh sleeve as well, still dry.

I'd say your high VG juice is doing you in. When I was really into my genesis builds on my Provari (all I ever used) I diluted the juice down with distilled water. Some people use vodka and I think I even tried whiskey once haha. High VG is so syrupy that it's going to wick pretty slow with any topper, unless your dripping or using a Reo like I am now. If you DIY, just add some distilled water to your total mix and compensate by adding the appropriate amount of flavor to compensate
