Like the coils, but Wow that seems like a lot of cotton. I have been spoiled by the squonk!

My own build for the Helios. Performed a lot better as I cut off the bunny tops. A LOT more production. I use a lot of loose cotton instead anyway as I prefer to chain with less dripping. That is, until I get the urge to vaporize things.

That was actually my first split-pair. It was tension wind with drill-press tensioned twisted (no torching). Just a bit of a hurry to test the principle so a bit knurly. A dual split 10 wind on 5/64" with 31g twisted @ about .8Ω. But tensioned winds produce about as well as something 20-25% lower res in terms of output. The vape is much cooler and easier to handle. Especially chaining low ohms.

Squonking, don't get me started (not just yet). I've got 33 mods already! Gotta figure out where to find 'em a good home.

Good luck dc.

:)

In interest of full disclosure being I started this thread .......

I must announce that I have switched back to ekowool ........ No real reason except the dry burns to clean actually took me longer than it would to wrap a new ugly coil around fresh wick.

I really like throwing in a fresh build every 15ml or so and it seemed like a waste to do it with the RxW. So far its been all good but I have 10 inches left I'm sure I will use up sometime.

:D:DHey folks, read the entire thread and it looks like you all are really trying to work together to identify the nuances of the rxw product. Happy to see your diligence!
A couple of you have even gone so far as to try Mac's Tensioned Contact Microcoil technique which has proven to be indispensable to me in reaching my target wattage for Kanger Clearos. (10 watts).
Would love to see more of you try the TMC technique and give us your feedback.

Just say'n

Lord help me, it was almost 34 today but for a dangling lead on a parallel kept me obsessin'.

(A purdy stainless and brass Raiju on a blue Raijin. Already have the tiger bronze on e JEM Stellar, and the most productive mod I own to date, neck and neck with the ZNA).

The day will come cig….but heehhhh, not today.

:D

Good luck.

I just received this in a drawing. I have not had the courage to build it yet, but I bet it could blow out everything you have ever seen. *LOL*

This is my work Reo. Its used constantly for 50 hours a week in a harsh environment. It's also my fishing, atv riding just regular ole beater mod. This piece of 3mm has been on here about two months. The coil needs a little dry burn atm but, the wick still looks great.

That's a massive hunk a metal dude. A steam engine. Recommend 22 gauge twisted tensioned parallels…immediately.

:D

Good luck.

Well I've finally used the slim readyxwick and HATE it!! I can't keep this wick wet for nothing!! I think about every 2 hits is a dry hit. After a day of use my throat is about raw. I'm sure it's something I've done wrong because hubs has been using the same 1 for about a month or so with no problems at all and I've made it the very same way. Ugh... what am I doing wrong?

Well it didn't take long ..... exactly one week of no RxW .......

I'm back on the band wagon ....... ekowool just does not compare for flavor.
I'm going to have to find a balance between dry burning and just plain replacing the RxW
I guess I should quit being so cheap and chuck a new one in whenever I feel like it.

Just chiming in.
I use XC because I am no good at wrapping or wicking. When I get a vape-able build, I want it to LAST. LOL.
Here's my Russian. I put on the chimney tube with the wick pointing UP, then tucked it in, to rest on the channels.
4 tanks later, it's still wicking along, vaping lovely. I am a fan!

Oh - I put a sewing needle through the middle, and wrapped the coil on the wick.

Hi Train,
Wondering what size that wick is? I just got some 2mm and your pic looks like it’s the 3mm?

So a month later, how has the readyxwick stood up?

Any other details/tips ? I also have a R91. Thanks,
~df

Try keeping the coil close to the deck, just barely high enough to allow draining. You will find however that you need to sqounk a little more often than cotton. I usually give a generous squonk every 3 hits or so. After awhile you can tell by flavor and vapor production of when to give it another sqounk before the dreaded dry hit comes along.
