Yeah, that looks better. Now as FB was pointing out, you need to check out how your coil lines up to your air hole. It should be in the center of the air supply. Center line of the air hole to center line of the coil with the coil close to the edge of the atty in front of the air supply...

Maybe being over picky here, but you might want to move the coil out a little bit more to the edge.

Excellent Ed. Gooid point on the ease of compressing and managing it. I pulse then soak mine to dispel some of the flavor artifacts from cooking off sentiments. But light torching works fine. And that's all you need.

I've never scorched through the 2mm. Come close though so I know it can happen. As I've mentioned before, if you don't purge deposits by rinsing or pulsing (or both) they can harden within the weaves at the surface into what I've called stony deposits. These can become extremely hot but interrupt conveyance of the heat to the wick interior. I can see where that kind of heat accumulation could damage the surface of the weave and possibly delaminate it. Like I said, I've seen indications of that in both 2mm and 3mm. We really don't want to see any wick get that hot so cleaning is very, very important. And if we do the material performs superbly.

As I'm sure you've seen the flavor just gets better and better with use of this wick, it just continues to break in. Which just encouraged me to use it more and more, in more and more devices. So I've got a over two dozen rigs set up most of them with NexT right now. It's a beautiful thing ed…to be able to enjoy that kind of variety. And time makes all the difference in the world getting there which is what ceramic wick allows us.

The slim 2mm has a slightly different tighter weave ed, you're right. It's not as permeable as the 3mm and in that sense the latter is probably best for bottom feeders. I would think in your application that the lower side of wind Ø (≦ 2.5mm) would give you better performance. I guess I'll just have to keep suffering Russ' needling 'cause I'm just not ready to go BF just yet. But I'd tend to agree with ya on try 3mm first.

Good luck.

:)
2mm worked alright, but noticed more frequent squonking, and also, that it's impossible to reuse because of being so thin. I haven't noticed stony deposits, but I'll definitely try to prevent it from happening by doing a more thorough rinsing; slight torching; and mild dry-burning.

So, you don't use bottom feeders? Guess that means you don't use Reo's. Surprised to hear that you don't. RxW 3mm works great for BF'ers on a Reo Grand. :)

I simply found that 2mm RxW didn't hold enough liquid for me to take more then 3 drags. You may want to try 3mm, it works a heck of a lot better.

My experience as well. :thumb: I've also noticed a little decrease in juice usage too.

Finally! I have arrived in the land of the RxW!!!! And I am one happy camper!

This might turn into a long post so please bear with me...or just skip over it when you see how long it is:)

As of three days ago I'm totally sold on this RxW and I've tried off n on since last spring. Gave up many many times, sold feets worth or given away feets worth of both the 2mm and the three mm.Tried " ugly coils" and tight coils, different coil hardware, so on and so forth. Bought more, tried again, read this thread and the first one, watched RDA's videos..and gave up again.

Then I ordered the Coil Master gizmo last fall from RDA . I figured that if I had the correct coil wrapping tool, to the exact measurement needed I could finally make this RxW work for me.

Well...there was a major glitch where the coil gizmo was concerned, as it was a pre-order and it took until till a couple of weeks ago to get it. Was offered a choice of a full refund or a store credit. i opted for the store credit and waiting for the Coil Master. Then the price was lowered so I had a bigger store credit. By that time I was "out-of-sorts" ( I get that way a lot...blame it on my advanced age), had many emails back and forth with Jeremy ( I had a little 2mm left and I attempted again to make a decent coil/wick and failed miserably)

So at that point I was through with RDA, the wick material and didn't even want the Coil Master...I wanted my money back!

Jeremy has more bulldog blood in him than I do, though, he kept after me, trying his best to make me happy. Then he called me! I was still belligerent ( oh yes, those who know me wouldn't think so, but it's true)

Well, just a couple of days later I received not one, but two of the Coil Masters to make up for the long delay and still kept my store credit. So I played with one of them to make coils for my cotton builds...easypeasy and accurate, instead of using a couple of very small drill bits that I've always used( hey, it didn't matter cuz whatever the size coil, I'd just stuff in enough cotton to fit)

I called Jeremy that night and apologized for being such a bear. He was so kind and then we talked for about an hour, he explained so much to me that a lightbulb went off in my head and I finally felt confident enough to try the RxW...but I didn't have any, as I'd given away or sold it all. So he said that he'd send me some of to take care of my store credit...and he said that, due to my vaping style, I'd probably prefer the 3mm. A few days later I received 3ft. of the 3mm and 2 ft. of the 2mm, tho my store credit would only cover 2 ft of the wick!

A couple of days ago I made a 2mm wick...it wasn't so good vaping wise, so I thought I'd do a little dry burn...burned it in half. Then I tried a 3mm wick, juiced the beejiggers on it, vaped a bit...

My word! I'd read someone here that said he finally could taste all the subtle nuances of his juice....yeah, right, I'm not falling for that....guess what...

yes you guessed it.. so did I, finally!

So I made up another one..and another one.. and another one...till i had all four Reos loaded. This was , I think, three days ago. Just a while ago i tried a dryburn on one of them just to see if I would burn it in half..and I didn't! Course the batt was half drained as apposed to the first time I tried it with a full batt....

I have to say that Jeremy bends over backwards to take care of his customers, at least in my experience with him
And kudos to everyone here that has posted so much excellent info...Muzichead and Filthybeast stand out in my head right now, as i just read this entire thread before i posted.

And i just moved my coil a little more to the right of the drainhole and tilted the right side down just a tad so the wick just touches the deck:) to get a better soaking of the juice on the wick.

Thank you everyone for all your advice and info on this product!

Ah, so glad you have made it at last....wonderful stuff. I eventually got hold of some, and, fortunately, a little goes a long way. All the best.

Glad you got it working. :) I have better success with the 3mm than I do with 2mm. Yes, Jeremy is very helpful, and will take time to talk to anyone. He and I talked for about 35 min one night as well when I was having issues with 2mm. He told me that he really had no intentions of selling 2mm, but people kept requesting and wanting it. He now keeps both sizes in stock.

I've been using a 3mm piece for about 8 days now. It's still going strong. I really like the fact that you can reuse the 3mm IF you need to make a new coil. ;)

It took me a lot of tries to get the threading of the wick into the coil correct, I wasted a lot. Now, that I've got it down, I can't see going back to cotton or rayon. An accidental dry burn is not a call for re-wicking. I, too, prefer the 3mm. It seems wick better than 2mm and I have been able to reuse it when I wanted to change resistance.

Congrats I'm so glad you got dialed in. Those 4 coils should last till you get bored and just want to build a new coil for the heck of it.

You and muzichead explained things, especially, that sunk into this think skull of mine:D

i guess then that i got bored cuz i just got done changing all four!

The flavor was great but the throat hit wasn't up to par, so I made coils of a lesser ohms just now...cuz I can:D

NOW we're talkin'! I'm as giddy as a kid in a candy store...

Guess I'll have to break down and order some 3mm. The 2mm in my Nuppin now that I'm dual .6 just doesnt hold enough for my lung hits - I get a burnt hit at the end most times... at least glad to hear others having more success with the 3mm so time to give that a try. I will say - I grab some KGD from the mall and this stuff is pretty darn good too!

I had better results with a double 2mm build than a single 2mm. In the next couple of days I want to try using 3x2mm pieces maintaining a triangular in the coil. For some reason I believe this could work.

That said, all atties in my rotation are built using 3mm RxW.

Cheers.

Everyone can go ahead send me your 2mm if you don't like it.....:D
Not getting mine either. I much prefer the 2mm over the 3mm. I don't have the problems others seem to with having to squonk often. I get 5-6 really good pulls per squonk and all of my builds are .3 -.8 ohm range single and dual.

I'm currently working on a solution to the problem of the wick "collapsing" under the pressure of the coil. Keeping the wick "open" in straw shape is integral because you need juice to get up inside the center of either of the two sizes of RXW. I'll let you know how it works out.
