Yes I run the tiniest jewelers flat head screw driver in between the RxW after I thread it inside the coil
I'm currently working on a solution to the problem of the wick "collapsing" under the pressure of the coil. Keeping the wick "open" in straw shape is integral because you need juice to get up inside the center of either of the two sizes of RXW. I'll let you know how it works out.

Glad everyone is having success with this stuff, I'm loving it. Forget about 2mm, 3mm is the way to go!
I have been Using ReadyXWick since before the Name, and have Found that putting a Mandrel though the center and Wrapping Right On the wick to Be a Lil easier and Limits the Chance of Breaking the Weave...Just My 2 Cents
I happen To Love this stuff...I know Some swear By Cotton but I change flavors Often and in Kayfuns Have had Wicks Last 4-6 months, changing flavors every other day...JS
Great Question...was thinking about that after I posted...I use a Cheap mandrel From Ft, but anything that Doesn't Break the Weave should Work...The second question is Key...DO NOT WRAP TIGHT!!!Just enought to gently Go Around the Wick...You can Micro if You choose, but I have made the Mistake, it breaks the weave and that shortens the Life of the Wick...I forgot after Not having to do it very often
For Me its easier than Tying to thread without a Snag...
You can even Use a Micro Screwdriver, and keep it though the wick to help install the coils....(Why Didnt I Try This)!

^^I'm sure what FB said would be what Sho found out... I too along my journey tried to wrap a micro directly onto RxW and found it to break the weave. Wrapping an ugly coil directly onto it did as well. I only did it trying to find flaw in someones theory that they shared worked, but alas, it didn't... For all the naysayers about not getting RxW to perform for them, they can send me what they have and call it a day. RxW is "THE BEST" wicking media I have found in my 4yr journey and will never use anything else as long as I am vaping.
I will say also that for all the failure's I have seen posted on RxW, 99.9% of the time it was due to user error!!! It still amazes me that for us that have had stellar performance with it, shared said stellar performance, coupled with the recommendations from Jeremy, (RBA Supplies), that people still have problems with it...
I nominate Mac for ECF HOF also... Epic guy...
If you try to tension wrap with a lot of pressure on the wick it does make it a mess, I've tried it. I thinks that's what he was talking about.
When you say "regardless of the juice", are you implying that it doesn't matter how a juice is made, and that it shouldn't affect the coil? Because if you are, that's not accurate. There is a drastic difference between Naturally Extacted Tobacco juices compared to Synthetic juices. Just try to vape 5ml of Black Cavendish from NET.com, or Patriot from Goodejuice, and then compare the results to Unflavored Nic Base, or a Synthetic blend. You'll discover a lot of coil gunking - which means inevitable dry burning. Can't compare Heavy Hitters with Synthetic, easy vape juices. Sugar content in the juice also will cause gunking, and will affect coil performance.^^^ regardless of the juice, BB or my own brews which are junkies as well, I have atties with coils at least 3-4 months old. Every 3-4 days, wash it down, gently dry burn the coil, blow the stuff off, wiggle the wick, gently burn, wash down, blow dry with an electric vac duster thing. Prime the wick, assemble, squonk or drip. Vape on.
Takes 5 minutes - if I am slow.
I'm beginning to wonder the same thing. The only problem I have is with the actual Kanthal wire itself. Have noticed adding water drops to the coil (which is metal wire) induces a Rust appearance to occur. I'm gonna stop dripping spring water on the coil. Just don't like vaping when the wire starts looking brown/black with a rusty look. The vapes becomes harsh, and since juice products are not that cheap, and Kantal wire IS very cheap... why not change coils? It just takes me a few minutes to mount a new one.I've found the same as HappiVappi, build it, vape it, dry burn and vape again. Longest I've gone is 2 months then I get bored and build a new coil. If I had to do the all the work you are Ed101 I'm not sure I'd still be using it.
I can tell you that all of my failures were user error. I wasted a bunch of wick getting it right. Now that I have found a good method, I use RXW exclusively, two Odin's and two RM2's. I read the posts, watched to movies and took the recommendations to heart but found it difficult to learn, perhaps that speaks to my deficiencies both in intelligence and in manual dexterity. Hands on practice was my solution, trying to incorporate the experience of others, but it was worth the wasted material. I write this to encourage folks to keep at it; it really is worth the cost and time. I can now, after practice, take the stuff out of an old coil and use it again in a new coil. This stuff lasts and lasts and a dry hit is no problem at all (but for the terrible taste), you just squonk again and all is fine again.
I still haven't ordered the pin vise.Don't confuse me.Now I don't know what he was drivin' at.
Don't choke or fray RxW wrapping or wicking it. Shope's right on that score.![]()
Rather envious of anyone that can free wind consistently. So it was a compliment. That's how I picked up winding on a pin vise, from an old school line tech doing free hand spaced solenoids, if you've heard the story.
For the rest of us who can't hand wind worth a lick two times in a row…build to a metric.
You take care FB, g'luck.
