If yours is the same as mine: The smallest shaft that came with the coil gizmo is 2mm. It's exactly right for 2mm readyXwick. Watching their videos will probably be more helpful than my description, but I'm going to assume you are having trouble inserting the wick in a 2mm coil. You should trim the wick at an angle and twist it in to your coil like threading a bolt in to a nut.

Squonking often... Depends. It depends on how much wick you are using and a lot on what ohms you are running. Lower ohms = hotter = more juice vaporized per button press. - I trim my wick a little (not much, but a little) longer than the picutures folks posted in this thread and am using it with a 1.4 ohm coil. I'm getting ~4-5 drags per squonk. -- One of the noteworthy things you will find in threads discussing readyXwick is the idea of running a small shaft back in to the hollow portion of the wick to open it up a little after it's in the coil. I have found that to be useful.

Torching... I have read that too... The 2mm readyXwick gets a little brittle and I really don't find it suitable to remove from the coil and then try to re-use. Some folks say they do it, but I didn't have any luck when I tried it. That leaves torching while still in the coil. If I did that, I would indeed remove the reomizer from the REO before doing so. --- So far, I've found the readyXwick cleans up really quite well just getting a good rinse. It's expensive, but not so expensive I think I'm going to try to make each wick last forever. I've just sort of decided I'll probably make a new wick when it fails to clean up well from rinsing.

2mm vs 3mm... I bought the sample pack and got both. I'm using the 2mm and it works just fine... However, I do see the potential that the 3mm is likely a better wick. There's just plain more wick material in 3mm of the same length as a 2mm wick. ... And this leads back to your squonking question. If there is more material, it logically holds more juice. If there is more juice, you should have to squonk less often.

One thing I have discovered: I switched to 100% VG unflavored a couple of months back, but I still have a partial bottle of my previous favorite juice. That juice is AVE 555 which is advertized as 100% VG... I don't know what AVE's flavor base is, but I'm absolutely certain that my 100% VG unflavored is a lot thicker than my AVE 555. The 2mm readyXwick has been an excellent wicking material for the AVE 555, but I'm not entirely pleased with it using my 100% VG unflavored. The next time I need to rebuild that particular RM2, I intend to make a 7/64 coil and try the 3mm readyXwick for my 100% VG unflavored. I'm going to bet it works better for that application.

EDIT: Huh. Well, your questions were all answered much earlier... days ago. When I loaded this thread, yours appeared as the last post in it. Not sure if I'm having some sort of episode or if I should blame ECFs servers... For my own peace of mind, I'm going to blame ECF ;).

Sorry for the redundancy and reviving this thread unnecessarily.
I am just NOW seeing this thread. Thank you so much for the clarification on everything. That was so helpful and you were so patient in all of my questions. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time out of your day to write that all out for me. I actually printed it off on my printer for future use.

Take care,
Dani

FB, what is your rationale of run unflavored 100% VG 3/4 of the time? I'm just curious.

Thanks,
Dani

+1 what Roscoe said. Unflavored does have a "flavor". The burning of VG gives off a subtle flavor plus it burns clean so you don't get alot of dark buildup on your coils.

Unflavoured VG and KGD here too.
I just couldn't handle the over-flavoured juices any longer and started using unflavoured VPG with my usual nic level.
I later reduced the nic to 0mg and top off the VG with a hint of natural tobacco aroma.
Gives me a decent throat hit with hardly any nicotine...

As a nice side effect, about 30 to 50 bucks get you through a whole year.

I have tried unflavored and to me, was the nastiest tasting thing I've ever vaped... The funny thing is, I don't ever remember any thing I smoked tasting like nuts... That is all I seem to taste with it. In fact 99% of the liquids I have vaped tasted like nuts...

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

Happy Holidays all! Enjoy the vape.

:)

p.s. Some straight vg run through any wick will help clear trapped insoluble solids. Sometimes clear your wick right up! No promises. I'm starting to appreciate SxD's preference for straight vg. Just not something I can handle. I like some gunky syrup on my pancakes!

I seriously need help. I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I just tried building a coil around a 1/16 drill bit. Is the coil supposed to go to the right side of the RM2 hole?

Do I put the rxw right up over the hole?

And does it matter of the rxw goes beneath or above the coil legs?

I was fine building coils with the coiling gizmo. This building by hand is a whole different ballgame. I am using 28g wire and a 1/16 drill bit and attempting to get a 0.8ohm build.

ETA: should the coil be up around the top of the coil or down below near the hole?

If you had it running fine with your coil gizmo there shouldn't be a big difference. If you place the hand made coil exactly like you did with the other should be close to the same.
Coil to right side of hole near edge, height even with airhole cap. I use RxW so i just use about a 3/8" inch piece with one end right over the drain hole to a little past the other end of coil. Nothing under or over the coil. Under will prevent juice from easy draining. If you are using cotton less is more. Don't overstuff the coil or long tails.

Should I check my ohms before or after tweeking my coils? And, if I have if I have the rxw already installed, will it affect my ohms reading?

Check your ohms throughout to be extra safe - before AND after tweaking (and after putting the cap on). The RxW might affect the reading a touch, but nothing drastic.

Hey, got it some 3mm rxw a few days ago. Set up 24awg 7/64 tensioned contact coils in my tobh netting .46 ohms. Results are less than spectacular and I noticed the wick is not making contact with portions of the coil id. I could see daylight all the way through the coil! Checked out my piece of wick and it's not hardly compressible in one direction but is in the other direction. It has a distinct oval shape to it. I ran a needle through the center to push the wick out but it doesn't stay put. You folks seeing the same thing?
