I keep looking at threads about this stuff and re-assuring myself that KGD cotton is the best. Apparently it breaches US security to send any of it out of the country :)

Go on admit it, it's not really that good is it

Works for some, not for others. You have to watch and listen to be able to use it optimally. Once you get it though, no changing your wicking for a couple months or more. I am on 6 weeks on 2 different setups right now and know I can get that and more out of it... KGD to me has that traditional cotton taste and only last maybe 2 days on average in my atty's... I will never use another wicking again. I have enough RxW to last me a good couple years right now.

Sorry, I really didn't mean to start a discussion comparing kgd to rxw. Just wanted to know if my 3mm rxw was defective in some way because it's oval shaped and non-compressible in one direction.

I'm just not getting along with rxw right now. Once I figure out how to peak it's performance maybe we can be friends.

I'll try 2.5mm tomorrow.

The way the 3mm is woven makes it feel pretty solid along one "side" (???? - it's not square, so 'side' isn't the right word... sorry, can't think of a better one). It's really very similar to a viper weave paracord guys make stuff out of... I don't think yours is defective.

BF Darang atomizer. 27g, 6 wraps per coil, 2.8mm ID, 3mm readyxwick, 0.54 ohms. Tried 2.5mm ID, but could not get the 3mm wick through it. It vapes like a dream. At least 8 toots per deep squonk, I kid you not.

And with the Darang's air slits exiting at the top, not even a glimmer of a leak.

I've found the 3mm plays better with a 2.5mm mandrel... It is really hard to wrap a good tensioned coil w/ 7/64 bit. Especially 24g wire...

Thanks,...Re-measured my 3mm rxw. Looked like 2.5mm would work and allow for some swelling but didn't have a 2.5mm bit. Opted for 5/64" (2.38mm) and it's rock'n....flavor was spot on from the onset....no breakin time required. Jury's still out on 5/64" because the wick could swell and begin to choke off the juice supply over time. 5ml of NET and one wash/dryburn so far. I'm impressed with the 3mm rxw. Not a cloud chaser's dream but the flavor is off the chain!

Btw: Coil winding issues are a thing of the past with the "Cigamajig" DIY coil winder. I have even tension wound 24awg on 1mm with no issues. See my blog and SXD's video.

Thanks for that. The pic made me decide to try something a little different and I'm more or less pleased with the result. - I mentioned earlier in this thread I'm not entirely pleased with 2mm readyXwick in 2mm id coils for my 100% VG juice. It just isn't as effective as cotton for that application.

So, looking at your pic, I thought I might be able to pull off vertical coils in my RM3. - I had to put the original screws back in it and remove the hex heads, but I did indeed get vertical coils in there and since the RM3 has just a little bit of a well, this set up with readyXwick seems to be a lot better wicking the VG. I'm not getting 8 drags per squonk, but 3 good ones and a 4th where I'm only sort of wishing I had squonked before I took it ;)

a 2mm coil is too big for 2mm wick, you want some compression of the wick for it to work right. Ideally around 1.6 mm

Yeah, I agree with "around" 1.6mm. 2mm Rxw is ultra sensitive to compression. Played with it for months in Protanks. Just a small difference in coil id will produce a noticeable effect on the productivity of xc-132 and the two pieces I received from RBA were different od's. The first piece I bought in May needed a .058 coil id to work best. The new piece needs a .063. Yes, that sensitive! Some are saying .070 works best with their piece so it must vary in size after kilning. At any rate I'm done with the slim variety as it doesn't keep up with my aggressive vaping style.

Still like the 3mm xc-116. 20mils of NET and 4 wash/dryburns later, it's still rock'n. I think I'm sold on the 3mm.

Thanks all,

:)cig

I think I'm sold on the 3mm too. I haven't burned through one piece of it yet. I was somehow burning my 2mm and never did figure out how I was doing it. It hasn't happened with the 3mm and I'm getting more drags per squonk, I still have some 2mm, I think over 2 feet, that I'm going to put up for trade soon.

I have switched to 3 mm also. I am also using a machine screw for for very closely spaced coils. My RM2 has not had a wick change in around three weeks. The 2mm with a TMC burned through, not so with the 3 mm using the closely spaced coil.
Question: I have some 2mm and wondered here you put this for trade?

I too am going to have to try 3mm. My experience with 2mm was good flavor and taste; but however, I noticed a lot more juice consumption; dry hits; and a lot more dry burning. The more frequent dry burning was most likely caused by the 2mm being thin and hollow. And because the RxW expanded into the coil... the juice had no where to go - but to settle directly on the coil, and build up. All the dry burning turned the coil black and rough looking. This caused a lot of harsh hits that resulted in coughing. I figured since I had to make new coils, and literally broke the used RxW in half when attempting to re-insert it in the new coil... I was defeating the purpose.

I like RxW, but because of the above... I'll probably find more success with 3mm. For now, I've went back to using CelluCotton. I seem to get a better flavor with CC opposed to 2mm RxW over a 3 day span, and better flavor and taste is really what it's about anyway.

Correction, I must have had a nic/coffee buzz when I said "opted for 5/64" above. It's 3/32". Surprised someone didn't ask how I got 3mm rxw through a 5/64 coil!

The only place to put something up for trade is the classifieds. There is a trade thread here in Reoville but only Reo specific things can be traded in that thread.

Thanks, I am a little cautious about the registration process with some concerns about the safety.

No worries. It's a safe trading space here on ECF with everyone validated. And getting verified by PP was my big concern. But it's worked out pretty transparently. I'm much more at ease about PP's access to account data. Like I said, good to know everybody's on a level playing field.

Sent you and Ed a PM on the burn thru (???) and scorching. Something doesn't seem right and I could use your input. Maybe I'm missing something re what's happening in your use patterns in the REO's world. And I'm not ready to dive in just yet.

Happy Holidays all!
