I've found the 3mm plays better with a 2.5mm mandrel... It is really hard to wrap a good tensioned coil w/ 7/64 bit. Especially 24g wire...
I keep looking at threads about this stuff and re-assuring myself that KGD cotton is the best. Apparently it breaches US security to send any of it out of the country
Go on admit it, it's not really that good is it![]()
Sorry, I really didn't mean to start a discussion comparing kgd to rxw. Just wanted to know if my 3mm rxw was defective in some way because it's oval shaped and non-compressible in one direction.

At least 8 toots per deep squonk, I kid you not.

a 2mm coil is too big for 2mm wick, you want some compression of the wick for it to work right. Ideally around 1.6 mm
I think I'm sold on the 3mm too. I haven't burned through one piece of it yet. I was somehow burning my 2mm and never did figure out how I was doing it. It hasn't happened with the 3mm and I'm getting more drags per squonk, I still have some 2mm, I think over 2 feet, that I'm going to put up for trade soon.
Thanks,...Re-measured my 3mm rxw. Looked like 2.5mm would work and allow for some swelling but didn't have a 2.5mm bit. Opted for 5/64" (2.38mm) and it's rock'n....flavor was spot on from the onset....no breakin time required. Jury's still out on 5/64" because the wick could swell and begin to choke off the juice supply over time. 5ml of NET and one wash/dryburn so far. I'm impressed with the 3mm rxw. Not a cloud chaser's dream but the flavor is off the chain!
Btw: Coil winding issues are a thing of the past with the "Cigamajig" DIY coil winder. I have even tension wound 24awg on 1mm with no issues. See my blog and SXD's video.
Happy Holidays,
cig
I have switched to 3 mm also. I am also using a machine screw for for very closely spaced coils. My RM2 has not had a wick change in around three weeks. The 2mm with a TMC burned through, not so with the 3 mm using the closely spaced coil.
Question: I have some 2mm and wondered here you put this for trade?
The only place to put something up for trade is the classifieds. There is a trade thread here in Reoville but only Reo specific things can be traded in that thread.
Thanks, I am a little cautious about the registration process with some concerns about the safety.
