I seem to have suddenly developed scary problems as a result of vaping. Now obviously, I should stop vaping if it's causing problems, but it's the "sudden" factor that's making me hope that I can find the problem. Plus, quitting vaping is going have serious issues in itself, as most of you would understand. Anyway, here are the details:

* I quit smoking 5 1/2 months ago, and converted to vaping completely. I have had no problems in this time except maybe a bit of a sore throat if I vape too much.

* All of a sudden (within the past week) I'm having these symptoms when I vape: lightheadedness, headache, mental fuzziness, shooting pain in the shoulder and arm, numb feeling in the scalp, and lung soreness.

* Vaping less reduces the severity of the symptoms, but doesn't stop them.

* Since I quit smoking, I have exclusively used Innokin Endura T18s.

* I typically vape about 5 to 6 ml per day of e-juice. I DIY, and my composition is 6mg nic, 35% PG, 65% VG, 10% flavor.

* I have recently made some liquid at 3 mg nic, because I want to reduce. I don't think that this has anything to do with it though, because I still have 6 mg left and both seem to cause the same problems.

* I thought that the high level of VG might be starting to cause some problems, and /or maybe I developed a sensitivity to some flavors. So I made a batch of E-juice with 50-50 PG/VG, and no flavor. No change - the problems remain.

My next experiment is to cut out the nicotine completely, to see if that helps. I also have to wonder if there is such a thing as "bad" nicotine? if that doesn't help then I'm just going to have to quit vaping. And I really really hate to do that.

One of the main reasons I started vaping, is that I got a warning from my doctor that my red blood cell count was too high. This apparently demonstrates onset of COPD. I recently went back to the doctor and my red blood cell count was normal. Which I was extremely happy about, as was my doctor. I mention this only to say that I probably have a little lung damage. But I think I caught it before the damage became bad.

Also, I have yearly medical checkups and am always otherwise healthy, and no heart problems.

So my question is, has anybody ever heard of or experienced anything like this? It's the suddenness of it that is so perplexing. What would you do?

Sorry to hear about your setback, you were doing so well :(

If it were me I would replace the atomizer and buy new compounds- nic, VG, pg. And stop using the old stuff. Just as a total process of elimination. And experiment with 100% pg, 100% VG, etc., All the other usual processes of elimination.

I think the best course of action for you is to see your doctor and review your symptoms. There can be many causes, and medical opinions are best gotten from your own providers rather than a forum. Feel better!

Yep, I do plan on seeing my doctor, very soon. Mostly I think she'll say that if vaping causes these problems, then stop vaping. Before I do that though, I wanted to get opinions from ECF.

It amazes me people come to a Vaping forum looking for absolution..it takes years for affects from smoking to show up so what makes you think the affects of vaping(if any) will show up in just a few months? .. Go to doctor
She's not looking for absolution, she's looking for help that her doctor is not likely to provide, other than to tell her to stop vaping. Where's the Dislike button when you really need it?

Somewhere out there
How do you inhale mouth to lung or straight lung? Reason I ask is I had problems with high VG and it gave me a heavy feeling in my lungs, I had to up my PG and problem solved. I also don't inhale much vaper and take In a lot of air to inhale and it has helped me. I am also using a T18 right now.
But definately keep checking with your Dr.

You are simply assuming that her doctor will tell her that. Are you willing to take individual responsibility for her health should it turn out to be an unrelated, but potentially serious medical problem? May your malpractice insurance be up to date.

And when did I recommend she not visit her doctor? Reading comprehension FAIL.

These are all symptoms of heart attack just in case you didn't know. Not saying you had or are having one but this is the last place you should be asking these questions you should be seeing a doctor. Or, you could go with the quality recommendations of the doctors here...your choice.

Honestly, going to your doctor should be your very first priority and should have already happened. Vaping may be aggravating an underlying condition that needs immediate medical attention.

For example; nicotine is a vasoconstrictor (altho at your usage levels unlikely to be the issue here) so say for instance you have a blood clot, your arteries contract due to nicotine use, oxygen is held up at the choke point ....symptoms occur only while using nicotine. This is not a diagnosis I am just trying to point out the flaws in your current thinking.

I do understand your concern about having your doctor tell you to stop vaping and not wanting to hear that. You could try seeing your doctor and not going overboard about how it only happens while vaping. That way they would at least look further than to just say "stop vaping". Then again, I am not advocating that you lie to your doctor. They most likely would look into your symptoms further AND tell you to stop vaping also. They have so much malpractice to worry about after all.

When I was a smoker I had trouble because my doctor was a nazi about it. When I didnt feel good he would just point to the cigs and say "stop smoking" and look no further. I got sicker and sicker until finally I had to change doctors. The next one found an auto-immune disease, verified it with blood tests and I've been on meds for it for the past 15 years. I feel fine now.

So I get the doctor thing, but you are risking your health by not going immediately ....and by immediately I mean, like if your having symptoms of a heart attack ( not saying that you are) you don't wait 5 days or more to call for help, you go immediately.

Just my opinion of course....but you did ask for advice.

One more time...

NO ONE HAS DISPENSED MEDICAL ADVICE HERE OR ADVISED AGAINST SEEING A DOCTOR

There is much reading comprehension deficiency here...

Seems the only one here that needs a course in reading comprehension is you. When someone come here relating potential serious health symptoms and receives replies such as those listed below it is basically saying I don't think you have a real problem but try this instead.

If it were me I would replace the atomizer and buy new compounds- nic, VG, pg. And stop using the old stuff. Just as a total process of elimination. And experiment with 100% pg, 100% VG, etc., All the other usual processes of elimination.

Just take it easy. Try not to stress about it. Maybe go down to 3 mg's and also PG might have an effect on you. I weez really bad when I lay down at night after I started vaping. I had to quit vaping In bed before I fall asleep. My doctor tells me there isn't many facts on its health benefits. Good Luck!

I definitely agree with everyone above. I would also mix a new batch of liquid since I see you said you DIY. I've done some miscalculations and ended up with way more nicotine than I planned. Just a thought...

Try making a batch of all vg, I had a lot of the same symptoms, went to DR and 3 visits later found out I have a pg allergy. Mine got worse when I would use soaps or shampoos with pg in them. Talk to your dr and see if he can do a allergy test

I agree with those recommending see your doctor ASAP! The symptoms you list can be attributed to a few other very serious medical issues unrelated to vaping. Eliminate those possibilities and then you can consider and worry about vaping issues. In the mean time....

Seems the easiest and cheapest check you could do is hit your local vape shop and pick up a bottle of premium juice. Try that and if symptoms go away, check your DIY contents/formula. If they don't go away, somebody else will have to provide some help cause I have no clue on that.

And one final comment based entirely on my own personal experiences with the medical profession, just because one doctor comes to one conclusion doesn't mean that is/was the only possible conclusion.

Either way, good luck!
