Someone please enlighten me! I'm rebuilding my protank coils using "Boiled" Organic cotton because it tasted like cotton before. I'm using 32 gauge Kanthal and have read and watched videos about heading the coil prior to vaping. Do I need a torch, my battery or will a lighter work? I've seen it done so many ways. Opionion? Thanks for all of your experience!

Trisha, I watched a RipTripper's video the other evening, and he doesn't "torch" with a conventional flame, he just has it either built onto the deck (of a kayfun) or in my Kanger heads, just fire it up a couple times without any cotton wick. Truthfully, I almost never "torch" the coil before I use it. I don't notice one way or another (but maybe my tastebuds aren't very sensitive....) The less often I have to play with open flames, the safer I am :D

EDIT: I also like 30g kanthal a little better - tends to not fire as hot as the 32g (and for me, less likely prone to burning juice)

Really? I have read and heard people state on youtube videos that the Smoktech RSST is probably one of the easiest RBA's to build on. Isn't it a Genesis-like tank?

I would not recommend a genesis style tank as a person's first RBA. With experience they can be very good systems but for a new person having to deal with shorts and hot spots while setting up can be a daunting task, not to mention random shorts and hot spots afterwards. I recommend a person become familiar with using cotton or silica wicking materials before trying mesh or cable. I just feel genesis style tanks can be too finicky for a beginner and they already have enough things to worry about getting right without the added frustration.

Ok, wait a minute here. Are you telling me that cotton can't be used as a wick on the RSST?

Sure cotton can be used on a genesis system jaxgator if someone wanted to run them that way. I don't think they were meant to wick with cotton but sure it works.

Congratulations vaslovik, many others including myself have not been so lucky with genesis systems. I seriously tried hard to like them when I was friended one but it leaked more than my dripper and I didn't find them worth the extra trouble. After sitting in the drawer for about a year I finally pulled it out again one evening and with the help of some online videos got it working quite well.

As with all things each person is entitled to their own opinion, right or wrong. I gave mine and you gave yours, now it's up to others to decide what is best for them.
