    So, today was fun.

This morning before work, I grabbed my two fresh charged batteries, threw them in my vape, turned to grab my jacked, and then smelt my mod catching fire. The batteries vented. I always knew it was possible. I just never expected it to happen. Quickly with a nylon stick I popped them out, and in my late-to-work-need-to-go-now panic, threw them in the microwave. I stole my SO's set up (he doesn't take it to work) and left.

The day went on, no thermal events happened, and everything was fine.

When I got home and was able to better inspect things. The batteries vented, and the lining singed off. They're toast, and need to be disposed of. (If you have a suggestion on that please leave a comment below. Beyond forcing my job to deal with it because of how they engrained battery danger into my head, idhk wtf to do with them...) My poor mod melted on the inside, the battery terminal melted and the battery contact sunk in. It no longer works.

I took the mod and the batteries to the Vape shop I bought the batteries at. I went there because I actually trust this guy, he's the most honest shop owner in my area. He said that it was probably not safe to Vape, even if it did work. He also informed me that the brand of mod I had, it's called a Rage Box, was prone to having mosfet issues that commonly led to these mods catching fire.

To be honest the whole thing happened so fast I'm not sure what happened. For all I know, I could have put the battery in upside down, or it could have been the mods fault. Who knows. What I do know is, I need a new mod...

So, I bought a backup mod (which came with a backup tank. It was a kanger subbox and nano tank set. It screamed BACKUP SETUP lol) but I doubt that it can handle for long my day to day amount of vaping.

I need a mod that is reliable and decently durable. I'm not hard on mods per se, but it does travel a lot.

I tend to stay away from regulated mods because i always seem to run into electronic issues with them.

I need a mod that can take two 18650s for all day use. Or put out as much power as one.

    I'm like, $100-$200

    In all honesty preferably pink.

The OKL-T20 is less likely to give you issues than other dc-dc conversion chipsets; they are quite durable. The hexohm has a good reputation. The Ranger is another nice OKL/Hammond box mod.
If you would rather have an unregulated mech, there are pink cherry bomber clones, though the one that I own and the ones I have handled have poor switch to body contact due to the anodizing on the body (they will tend to pass voltage through the button spring and hotswitch).
Have you considered getting a mod that isn't pink and adding a wrap? For some reason companies seem to cheap out on pink items.

HexOhm V2.1 Unregulated - Craving Vapor

Hexohm Breast Cancer Awareness Bundle - Craving Vapor

    HexOhm V2.1 - Craving Vapor

First one is unregulated - the next two are using the OKL-T20 chip.

    all available in pink

That hits spot on in price range too... And I like the logo. Thank you that's great!!!

I mean, I've considered getting one that's not pink and I suppose at the end of the day it's not the color that matters. However, knowing myself, I'll never feel an affinity to it.

I am intrigued by the regulated version, mostly for its protections. What are the things that could go wrong with it vs the unregulated?

It looks like what my rage box was supposed to be.

    AltSmoke Silver Bullet mechanical mod

Only a single 18650 tube mechanical mod. Has a Kick extension sleeve available in case you want to put in a Kick module to turn your SB into a variable wattage regulated mod (adds protection circuitry). Recessed fire switch decreases the risk of unintentionally firing the button in a pocket or purse. Fire switch is designed to vent gas in case you have a battery go into thermal runaway. Also has a "hot spring" which acts like a fuse if the battery becomes hot. Made in Ohio, so in the rare case it needs repair, send it back to Chad. Only $85. And it comes in hot pink!

I have had one of these for nearly 4 years (a black silver-veined one which I still use daily; my son uses a white one). You'll be hard pressed to find a "safer" mechanical mod on the market today.

    I'm guessing you don't have a Valkyrie.
I wouldn't recommend that mod to anyone that doesn't understand what a
    Valkyrie is.
It's not your average mechanical, and the cheaper clones can have issues upon issues.

I don't have a Valkyrie. It's the only pink mod I know of but I do see it a lot here where I am from. It was widely used here up until the subtanks came around.

"Widely used" doesn't make it a good mod to recommend.

It's a dedicated hybrid dripper with the atty deck press fit into the tube.
    The atty doesn't come off.
The switch has a brass contact that "floats" inside a delrin disc that threads to the wall of the tube.
    Delrin threads are plastic threads.
They wear and can cause issues a novice won't know how to handle.
Not a good beginner device at all.

I have an EHPro Valkyrie clone.

It's nice to learn new things. I didn't really do any research on it since it doesn't interest me. I only bring a mech around as a back up and I never really had to use it as one. Thanks for the info.

    You are welcome.
ECF is a great source of information.

It's usually better to only recommend devices (especially mechanicals) that you are very familiar with.
