Good morning crew!

Always an exciting time waiting with anticipation for the first photos!

A smoking friend of mine has always been interested in ecigs, wanting toots off of mine and asking me questions. But when he saw my cutlass 5.1 he instantly wanted it, zebrawood being one of his favorites. I told him if he buys batteries/charger/China 510 attys, I'd give him the 5.1, an A7 (to play with) with rebuild supplies, and some juice on the cheap.

As much as I love that 5.1, if he can get off the smokes, it'll be totally worth it :D

That is awesome tell him good luck on quitting!!

Ahoy!

Yeah, good luck to him!

You know, it's embarrassing but I've not been able to get the Commodore to quit smoking cigarettes. I've been successful in getting my sister in law to use an RSM, but keep failing when it comes to the ol' lady. Seems like she doesn't believe in them or just isn't willing to quit cigarettes. I dunno....

Well, I've been spending money like I actually have it to spend. I bought a dozen new panel woods but am still searching for a body wood that would be worthwhile to add to the list.

I also ordered a 26650 battery so I have one to get actual dimension from. No way I can even play with a prototype until I have the correct battery type to test fit. How to solve the problem of needing 1 1/2" thick body wood for it is still something I have to solve. Wood is typically offered in 3/4" or under. Anything over that gets more rare the thicker you need.

Well, off I go. I need to give the mods a very fine sanding and put on another coat of finish. I also have a desk caddy that needs to go out by tomorrow so I need to get to work, off I go!

Well, as I've said before, every cigarette avoided with vaping is a small win. Gotta just hope they are eventually replaced.

--------------

I put another finish coat on the mods last night and will wait for them to dry hard before I start assembly to avoid scratching them. Got a few more desk caddies to make so I don't have any pending when I start building the mods.

Other than that, business as usual here.

My parents both stopped smoking in their 40s with prescribed Chantix. Sadly their paranoid delusions have not abated, not really helped by my choice of avatar.

I am looking forward to a few pics of the latest batch of mods, not least because one will be mine and i can use a few pointers on which wood and why. I do find the current craze for Curly Koa rather disconcerting.

That is not mine btw.

Ahoy! Hope everyone's weekend went good and you had a fine Monday.

Update time ......

Trying to get alot done around here and multi-tasking like I know what I'm doing!

I have part of the batch assembled and will work on more of them tomorrow. I'm also trying to get the new wood ready for the next batch, cut some more panels out of blocks and get the bodies ready for the next batch as well.

Did I mention I have 3 more desk caddies needing to get done? Arrrrr!!

Anyway, here are a few of the new side panels to be offered next batch. I will post more later. Why did some of the pics make the wood look purple? I'll have to take better pics before posting them on the website.

I got some more cocobolo panels by request;

Black Mesquite;

East india rosewood;

and for the people crazy about stabilized, how about some "Rainbow yellow birch". I'm still not fond of working this stuff, but check out the crazy colors!

and finally here is some Argentine Lignum Vitae;

Before I post these on the website, and along with the other wood I have coming in, I will give them a coat of finish so people can see what the end product should look like.

Finally, here is quick picture I took of Batch 23 from a couple days ago, just before I put on the 2nd coat of finish. Next pictures will be the finished mods in all their glory. The door panels are drying on the second shelf.

I'll post more panels pics and stuff as I get them in.

Those two are made from the last of my east indian rosewood blocks. I also used the last Macassar ebony blocks this batch as well.

I'm expecting some really exciting wood to arrive soon, I'm not even going to give any hints but will post pictures of it when it comes in. Well, one hint, I dropped far more money on wood for next batch than I had planned on and the new body wood I have arriving cost more than all the panel wood I ordered put together. It's gonna be AWESOME! Well, I think it will be anyway....

Night all, arrr

very nice!
what wood are those two in the bottom right?

Good morning crew!

Finally got a hold of the unemployment office after 5 days in a row (not counting the weekend) of calling them every 20 minutes. Maybe after being laid off 6 weeks they'll start giving me money.

Gah! Why must I be laid off during these most exciting of times! I did hear a rumor that I may get transferred to the truck assembly plant for the duration of my lay off though. Hope I get out of the foundry! :D
