Ahoy all, sorry I've been absent for most of the days lately. I have a laptop not far from me so I can stop and answer questions on the thread and PM's, but mainly I've been just running the ship full speed and not stopping to chat much. Lost a week of time playing with the desk caddies and I'm trying to make up some time here.

But, 12 hours of hearing the whine of machinery is enough today, gonna quite a bit early. I might have a bit of porn to show tomorrow, I have 6 more boxes to hollow out, then some doors to make but all the mods that are gonna get inlays have them, I tried a couple new layouts too. I am also putting some engravings into some of them, lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Celtic knots, tigers, dragons maybe a bit of tribal art and such, nothing that will turn people off I hope,

You betcha, I will show something, even if I am still working on others. Speaking of which, if anyone has any cool ideas for engravings, throw them my way. I charge $35 usually for custom engravings, but If I add them myself during production they are essentially free

Well, I love the birds and dragons. Unicorns are also cool. Tribal art seems to be popular though I'm not huge on it. I prefer more flowy, pretty art or references to my favorite films, tv shows or books. I really like the crane Chet posted. References to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, comic book heros...stuff like that would probably be popular.

ahhh cant wait! for a while there i felt naked, only had my cutlass slowly my destroyers are coming back to me. i oove the tiger maple and ebony one, ive wanted a high contrast mod for a while and this is as good as it gets, thanks again cappy! i got some tanks waiting to be set hehe

I agree wholeheartedly and I rarely put inlays or engravings in the real exotic woods, they do stand on their own and anything I could do just seems to lessen the appearance, not always but most of the time. Naturally I will engrave anything the buyer wants, but I might not like doing it

I spent the first half a day working on repairs which always come before the batch (people already paid for these and deserve them back quick!), but I'm working on the new batch again and might be able to show a pic or two but it will be much later tonight.

Quickie question regarding the beautiful new caddy - what kind of wood is it?? It smells like cinnamon (yes, I sniffed my wood, and it was good!), not sweet cinnamon, but like a cinnamon stick, or cinnamon broom you can find around the holidays - really wonderful scent! I just can't decide if it's the wood, or something yummy you were vaping while working on it If it was something you were vaping, please share what it as, cuz I'd like to try it!

lol, well, I do vape cinnamon, perhaps I got a bit of juice on the cloth I wiped it down with? Possible .. I also usually put a heavy coat of Howards feed N wax on the desk caddies before they go out to help against juice spills. They are made from Cherry wood, kinda my standard wood for making desk caddies.

Desk caddies, no matter how big I make 'em, there are never enough holes for everything.....
