Are you all aware that USPS has banned the shipment of Li-ion batteries or any device using them from international shipments? I wonder how this is going to affect the availability of batteries. Suppliers can keep offering them but they will have to have their bulk shipments made via Fedex or DHL or something. Might seriously drive up the price of batts. Anyone have any news about this? I just found out today :(

I am wondering if I should stock up on batts and at least offer a set or two for sale for people buying new mods if they need them?

I'm sorry to say that no, I don't think you can use them, they cannot handle the current demand that you need during vaping. I get most of my battery supplies from Madvapes.com, they usually have batts in stock and I just use either the Trustfire or Ultrafire protected batteries. They simply stop working when they are too depleted and need a charge up.

Li-Ion Batteries

They seem to have plenty of the 16340 batts in stock too :)

Darn. I was hoping to start using her right away. To madvapes it is.

This wouldn't affect shipments within the US, though, would it?

In theory, as written, the domestic mail manual update limits to three batteries in a package, however it also separately allows a battery to be up to 100 watt hours (8 - 10 big 18650 batteries). Things like laptop batteries actually are made up of multiple 18650 batteries in a package.

Practically, I suspect many will end up treating a shrink-wrapped pair of 16340 or similar as a single battery. The DMM really should be updated again, to officially recognize this as reasonable (set the limit at 300 watt hours total, not 3 "batteries", each no more than 100 watt hours)

There may be another update in January, at least for international shipping.

Once you get a couple of batteries to start you off with damselle...here's a link to a website that carries Trustfire 16340 "PROTECTED" batteries in packs of TWO for only $5.40 a pack and FREE SHIPPING!! Someone here on ECF mentioned that they purchased these from them, with good success, so I purchased a few 2 packs for myself. The 'hitch' to buying these is that you have to wait awhile to get them....that's why I said "once you get a couple of batteries to start with" ;). These are shipped from China and will take 3-4 weeks to arrive. If you do plan on getting some from them, just MAKE SURE that you get the "PROTECTED" ones as they ALSO carry the same ones that are NOT protected.

TrustFire Protected 16340 880mAh 3.7V Rechargeable Li-Ion Batteries (2-Pack) [E16291] : Electronic Gadgets, Home Gifts & Unusual Novelty Gifts - BestOfferBuy

NOTE: hopefully we can still get these from China (after what Cappy just told us)

Whoa, I looked up from the computer and saw it was almost 9:30, where did the day go?

I was screwing around on Youtube, trying to find recent TV news about vaping and couldn't find anything done recently. Everything seemed a year or three old, isn't there anything new about them? You would think, with the possible ramifications to Big Tobacco and with the concerns of the health organizations of the world they would be constant headline news? Instead I see little new news reports about them, odd ...

If you've seen something new and can remember where, post the link or the video, think we all might be interested in watching/reading it please :)

Just received a Destroyer from the classifieds a few hours ago and it is working great. I can tell it won't be a fleet of one. Can't do much with one Destroyer. I primarily use tanks now. I was going to venture into the bottom feeder on the variable voltage release of another brand coming up but I think I will just find me a home port and build a little wooden fleet with a Red Sky to the east. Really seems to be a great box so far. Looking forward to your next batch but I won't quite be so antsy now that I have one. Good job Brian!

The only blue county in Texas!
Lets see what I have handy that you don't have .... would you like to have my Mark-10 prototype? the only one with rounded edges?

You know I'm fond of rounded edges - but I'm happy with whatever you want to toss my way. How exciting!!! Cappy is the best darn pirate in these waters!
