Let's see, I got some eucalyptus, buckeye burl, curly koa, flame box elder, another koa and a couple more pending, should be here monday. All knife blanks.

I'm working on a couple of new designs and stocking up on some wood for them if they pan out in the future.

Arrrr

I've posted a bunch of mod pics the last couple days, here is one of my shop assistant. Always with me, always underfoot and a great dust collector too.

Buddy!

Yeah, his eyes actually do glow yellow, they used to glow red but I've turned him from the dark side ....

He is lovely! What's his name?

We were gonna call him the usual dog names, like #*$&head, stupid &#^$er, $($!#@ and !*&#$ von &$^@, but decided to actually just call him "Buddy". Joanne does call him "Itchy Mc Scratchy" sometimes tho, lol.

 Itchy Mc Scratchy!!! He looks like a good Buddy, though! Collies are awesome dogs. Bet he wears a lot of wood dust!

I could just stick a broom handle up his .... and push him around, but he would probably get mad.

I've never had a collie before, this is the most lovable and hug-able dog I've had. Totally worthless as a watch dog of course, and not very photogenic to say the least.

Got pets? Not sure whats pictured in your avatar ..baby otter?

If pen blanks are big enough...those woods would look awesome as doors on the mods, matched against some of your standard stock woods for the bodies, yes? (picturing that snakewood as a door panel on a Destroyer now

)

No, pen blanks would be way to small. I've used knife scales in the past but have to be careful they are big enough, some of those are too small for my purposes too.
Using knife scales as door panels works well for the most part. The last batch had several that had matching panels on both sides of the mod, it does present a more symmetrical appearance.

And I will remember your request for first dibs, heh.

I brought some cartos and some of my DIY juice over to a 'customer/friend' yesterday and showed her my Destroyer setup and I thought her eyes would fall out of her head! All she kept saying was, "wow...wow...wow!" Then I let her take a puff off of it and she loved it...and my juice flavor, lol!! She asked how much the setup cost me and all I could say to her was...."well, unless your a serious vape'er and collector....then you don't wanna know" She only uses RIVA batteries and I KNEW she'd never flip for something more expensive, so I didn't want to even go there about what I pay for my vaping obsession. But...she was VERY impressed!!

I got about 6 hours sleep, that's about what I usually live on. I wish days were 28 hours long, I could stay up for 20 and sleep for 8 .. would be perfect for me :)

Yeah, I know they are expensive at first glance, almost enough to make your heart skip a beat, but when you look at the simple figures like I do sometimes, well ..... take a look.

In May - made and sold 18 mods at average price of $152 = $2736

Purchasing Parts/materials/overhead is 50% off the top on average = $1368 left

My share of the bills is usually $1200 per month ... leaves me $168 play money for new tools, popcorn or whatever. Just one mod lost in the mail will kill any pocket money I have for that month. This is for a work week of 70 hours on average.

I have a bunch of mods sitting on the website not going anywhere .. not good, but there is little I can do about it, it's slow everywhere at the moment so I just need to be patient and survive. One good thing about being a one man wrecking crew is I can quickly adapt so I am taking time to look into new models that I may be able to offer in the future.

I know you didn't ask for a financial disclosure of RSM, but I thought it would be nice to let people know what happens behind the scenes :D

Oh, I can fully understand and know that your profit margin can't be very high Cappy. Just paying off new machinery such as the CNC machine (is that what you use now?) has to seriously cut into any 'pocket' money for you, plus any new parts that need to be ordered on a pretty frequent basis because of all the ongoing use. People that are 'occasional/light' vape'ers can't justify spending so much on a mod setup, but, they don't take into consideration (1) what all goes into making a mod or a specialized tank, not to mention how much longer it will last compared to the cheaper low/bottom end pvs/tanks... and (2) how much they were/are spending on cigarettes and all that is associated with that habit!

The cnc machine I have is kind of made for hobby use, but it does route out the inside of the boxes just fine which is all I ask of it and I'm very glad to have it.

As for the rest, I'm not sure what I would do if I was shopping for a mod, I started doing this because I could not afford to buy a wood mod for myself so I would probably be one of the people who would get the cheapest reliable mod that did the trick. Even if it didn't last nearly as long it's the initial cost that would put wood mods out of my reach.

Ahoy maties, I'm back. Camping was awesome. I had quality time with the fam. But like all good things come to an end. Hark what do I spot on the horizon........ Curly Koa. Coming from Hawaii, this would have to be a must have for me. I would gladly take a Curly Koa mod out of your inventory........vv of course.

Some ramblings.....
When I first started vaping, over a year ago....I had SO MANY people inquire about it and wanting to kick their analog habits. Working in a bar/grill...I'd see a lot of people on a daily basis and at that time they had just announced that smoking was no longer allowed in our establishment because there was a restaurant next to the bar area. I ended up ordering MANY e-cig kits for people. Quite a few said that the e-cigs were really helping them, but then as the weeks progressed, most went back to smoking unfortunately :( After over a year, I have two people that have hung in there and continue to vape. I've tried to coax them into upgrading to nicer pv's as rewards for their efforts, but I guess they're just happy where they're at now and feel like 'if it works...why change'
