I've been playing around with an app I totally forgot about, Color Splash. It gives nice results when the model is good.

This Cocobolo really is a fantastic wood, fascinating... since I got it, sometimes I just let it lie on the table, and look at how the lights reflect on it.
Cappy you really made my day with this one! I love my other Cutlass, but I've wanted a Cocobolo for quite some time now, so glad I picked one :)

Sure is, can't take a single picture that gives this lady justice!

This is a song for the Cap'tain and let the rum flow!

Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die

The King and his men stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her bones
The seas be ours and by the powers
Where we will...we'll roam

Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never say we die

Some men have died and some are alive
And others sail on the sea
With the keys to the cage
And the devil to pay
We lay to Fiddler's Green!

Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die

The bell has been raised from its watery grave
Do you hear its sepulchral tone?
A Call to all, pay heed to the squall
And turn your sail towards home!

Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die

oh yeah, this A7 rocks cappy.

arrrrrrrrrr...

Aye it does. I've been running mine for almost 2 weeks before putting in a new coil. Don't have to change it, but it's all dark and nasty looking so I just wanted to clean it and a fresh coil tastes a bit better.

I also broke out another new one for myself, I'm so slow putting in a new coil that I had to dig around for a backup mod to vape while I got the new coil in just right. So now I have a spare setup ready to go that I can just switch to. I'm beginning to see why people have multiple setups ready and waiting on them, arrr

I have a set up for every juice I like :D

Lucky you! I only vape 100% VG juices, the best I have is 80% VG, so basilcally these are coil killers... I can't expect more than 2 days out of a coil, 3 days if I'm being lazy, but the Boba's Bounty for example tastes awful after 2 days on the same coil. I guess it can last longer if you vape cinnamon or mint...

Hey Waho, is the resistence adjustable by how many times you wrap or is it pretty much set regardless?
and is there any other wick material other than this umm.. is it fiberglass?
I've seen SS mesh being used on genesis and other tank type rebuildables but not sure if that can be used on A7 type somehow.

If I could jump in, the resistance is adjusted by the length of the wire. The longer the wire the more resistance. So if you take a 1" piece of wire and wrap it in 2 loose coils or 5 very tight coils it should have the same resistance. The only benefit of 5 coils is it would have much more surface contact against the wick so give more vapor.

A 1" straight piece has about 1.6 ohms, a 1/2" straight piece has .8 ohms.

I should also add, that the thicker the wire you use, the less inherent resistance it will have, so naturally the more thin the wire, the more resistance it will have.

ahhh I see captain!
imma try to go for 3.5ohm or around next time I change. hmmm so I'd need more than 2" then...
wait .. is that like 10 wrappings.. haha

Yup, it's all about length. For example the coil that I send with the A7 ohms out to about 4 ohms at full length, but every bit that is not used/cut off lowers the resistance of the whole setup. Measure wire to the ohms you want, plus a bit extra for the fastener and you will get the same resistance coil each time :)

Everything above is true! Total resistance is a mix of wire gauge and number of wraps (length of wire in effect). Higher gauges of wire (thinner) produce higher ohms and lower gauges (thicker) produce lower ohms.

My typical 5 wraps around 3mm silica with 32ga is around 1.8 ohms. My new 5 wrap 30ga around two pieces of 1.5mm silica I'm guessing is about 1.3 ohms. My meter fluxes between .8 and 1.5 ohms with it, doesn't like the extra low resistance :p

For a 3.5 ohm coil, I'm thinking you'd need 34 or 36 gauge wire. Don't quote me on that though as I have no experience with them.

This thread has a lot of good info:

Edit:
Forgot about your wick material question, my bad :(

Most folks are using the regular silica rope type wicks in these. Others use bamboo/cotton threads. I've seen a few photos of SS mesh wicks in these as well.

Awesome. Thanks both of you.
I'm yet to experience burnt taste on this. It was dry a few vapes, but rather than giving me weird taste it just didn't produce much vapor and that was it. Loving it so far!

Anytime! If you've got more questions on the topic in the future, I'd be happy to help :D

These rebuildables take repeated "blunderbuss mode" 8+ volt hits as well. Very hard to mess up once you've got a good coil/wick set up in there.

It's funny that you said that, but a couple times after checking battery voltage levels, I absentmindedly went back to vaping and thought, wow, nice hit. Then later, wow, thats a heavy hit and then realized it was still at high voltage. Didn't seem to harm the A7 coil at all. Just clicked back to vv and kept going. Perhaps the wire is a heavier gauge than an atty/carto so it doesn't burn out like they would?
