Whew, think I am gonna stop for the night. No mod fatalities yet and just put the first coat of sealer/finish on the batch. I must say that this batch is turning out just as good, if not better, than the last batch. Some of the pre-order people really picked some fine color combinations, I will try to post some pictures pretty soon.

In addition to having Macassar ebony for a body wood, I've also nearly doubled the amount of panel woods that people will have to choose from on the next batch.

I will probably be opening pre-orders in about a week, but no promises as these batches are taking longer than ever to finish as I'm trying to deliver a nearly flawless (as much as wood can be) mod to the people waiting on them.

I should have about 4 Destroyers, 2 Cutlass's and a few more Cruisers up on the website when the batch is done.

Well, I just tried an experiment.

Sometimes when I grab my cutlass to vape, I also grab my backup mod and take a hit off both of them at the same time.

I finally grabbed an A7, cut out two coils from a coil string and left them long and measured them out to about 4 ohms in length, which is about the full length of the coil wire. Wrapped the excess in a couple more loops around the wick, then I carefully mounted both of them in the A7 being careful not to short out the coils and managed to stuff all the wick inside.

I then measure the ohms at about 1.2 ohms when I put it together so I opened it up and found one coil touching the center post. Moved it up a bit, put it back together and measured 1.9 ohms. Just about exactly what I had hoped for.

Squonked till it was slightly gurling and WOW! Dual coils and running great. It does get hot pretty fast though and I would suspect I am gonna really go through the juice and batteries, but what a heavy hit its giving now.

So dual coils in a A7 ERA does work, just have to be careful getting it all in there

Gah, right after I went on a recoiling spree! Now I have to give that a whirl.

I tried that Dual coil on the ERA once (I've got one with two holes in the top cap...don't ask why ) , but thought it was not worth the hassle, plus the battery drain was just amazingly fast. But I'll give it a try on the A7 as the system is quite different, with the air coming from the connector

I can do better than that Waho, how bout a step by step for anyone interested


First cut off a coil from the string.

Then I measured resistance for the full length of the wire. It came out to about 4.8 Ohms.

I knew I would lose a little wire length when I installed it, so I kept it at that length and wrapped the excess in more coils around the wick, nice and evenly spaced and then checked the resistance again. It came out to 4 ohms where I estimated it would be secured by screws in the post of the A7.

Perfect, right about where I wanted it. Two 4 ohms coils hooked up in parallel will give 2 ohms.

Make another one just like it

Install the first coil like you normally would and ensure the coil doesn't touch the center post

Then install the second coil, putting the wires through the opposite sides of the post you just used. Thats the easiest way for me anyway.

Tighten the screws, trim the excess wire from the posts, then tuck the bottom wick into the bottom well

Tuck the top wick into the well. Be careful not to bend the coils too much.

Time to test it. It should come out to around 2 ohms if you build like I do and you didn't accidently short out a coil against the other coil or the body somewhere.

i havnt been on much because of the holiday, by the way, hope yall had a nice thanksgiving, but i have to say these atties are great.. I had to pull the coil out already and said screw it wrapped a new one with some mesh around the silica.. no more burnt flavor. i like higher voltages.. friggin things work great.. i like the cup in the bottom too keeps the coil nice ans saturated.. ill post up a pic prolly tomorrow with my set up!! My, we are up late!

The Fluke 27/FM is a made for military true RMS meter, made in the 80's. The military is dumping their surplus of them and going to a newer model. I picked up two last year with recent calibrations for pretty cheap on e-bay. One of them looked like it had hardly ever been used and the other slightly used and thats the one you are seeing. Fluke hardly makes a bad meter though and the 87 is a great model I used to use at work all the time.

Ahoy, good morning all, happy weekend!

Two 4 ohm coils side by side would equal 2 ohms total, so I set my voltage at 3.9V to give me almost 8 watts of power.

If one of the coils suddenly burned out while using it, the ohms would suddenly jump up to 4 ohms and at 3.8v I would only be getting 4 watts of power.

The more resistors that are placed side by side in parallel, the easier current can flow so the resistance in that current diminishes.
