Arrr, almost done for the day. Been busy trying to get caught up with caddy orders.
I also want to make a batch of mods for the website next. I had intended to do that last month but made another batch of pre-orders instead.
I've also got a few changes I am probably going to make next time I do a batch of pre-orders.
I've had a report of another warped door from this batch, a panel made from the stabilized wood. If I get just one more report of a warped door I am finished using this "wood" for good.
I originally didn't use it often because it is difficult to work, if you overheat it when sanding, it does not burn it actually just melts and when cut it smells just like epoxy, not wood. I caved into customer pressure to provide it but I am regretting that decision. What good is it to spend all the time to make a
mod when I just have to refund the purchase price because the materials I used fail? This is a quick way to put RSM out of business if I ever have to refund multiple purchases.
Granted I could change the width of the
mod to incorporate a 1/2" thick door, but no, I'm not going to mess up the design just because of one problem that can be easily fixed.
Also, next batch I am going to offer the option of having the door panel match the body wood and give a price discount to people selecting that option. If the door panel matches the body I do not have to cut a back panel, nor do I have to make a pocket in the back of the body to place the panel, glue it into place and sand it flush. Seeing how I am saving time I should give a discount on the
mod price too.
Anyway, back to work. Caddies don't make themselves! Arrrrrr
