Our "ice storm" resulted in relentless freezing rain for three days last week. The ground and elevated surfaces were covered in liquid the entire time. Trees and powerlines were covered in thick ice. The air temp hovered around 30F. South of us there were tornadoes. It was weird even for us. We were without power here at the HypnoRanch for 42 hours. No cell service either... Methinks that a nice 80kV multifuel generator and a giant battery-bank would be good.
So would a Bell 402 and a private 757.
Grateful to be back online and to have lights and a working aerobic septic system again.
No I don't think I would like to live in the 1800's house...

Hate when that happens, freezing rain is most definitely bad, don't have tooo much of that here in Co. but have many memories of it living in Michigan, where the humidility is very high & watching power lines & tree limbs that are amplified in size, due to the ice & snaping & shattering from the slightest winds! Saw a Corvette once that was in a fender bender but due to it being completely frozen, the whole body shattered into tiny pieces!
Yeah, having a good generator is a great idea, also a get away helicopter & jet, not a bad idea also!
Hang in there Hypno, as I know you have your share of crazy weather there for sure & these things sure make us appreciate the things we sometimes take for granted though.

My step dad went to have a CT scan last Wednesday to see if the cancer has returned. He went back to the doctors today to get the results...he is cancer free . He will continue to drink roasted dandelion tea three times daily.
