I just started refilling my own cartos today (my juice order just got here). I see all these juice and PV vendors selling syringes, and keep seeing youtube videos on filling cartos with syringes. Is this a better way to fill them? I tried using the condom techiniqe and it seemed to work very well for me. Is filling with a syringe more benifitial than the condom technique. Or was that just the old school way before someone figured out the condom method? Are there pro/cons with either technique?

Condom worked fine for me but I use a syringe. It's just a little less messy. My syringe also comes in handy when refilling a tank.

So is that pretty much the only benefit with using the syringe technique? The condom method didn't seem too messy to me. I just wiped off the threaded end of the carto and was ready to vape. Is there any other benefit to using syringes other than not being as messy?

Well, if you know exactly how much your cart holds, you can just measure the right amount and be done. There is no flooding the atty, no leaks, and no having to get all of that extra juice off the threads.

OK. thanks. I think I'm starting to see why some folks might prefer the syringe method. Unfortunately for me, keeping syringes around the house is not preferred. In my situation, the risk doesn't outweigh the benefit. I think I will stick with the condom method for the time being. It works well for me so far, and I also have some drip tips. So I probably will be dripping a lot when I'm at home.

Thanks for your input

No slam here... but you must be executing the condom method wrong. Done properly, it's the 'slickest' filling method with the fewest steps and least clean up for filling/refilling non-Mega/non-pierced cartos.

I also avoid any carto/tank setup that requires a syringe. I only use 'em when concocting DIY sample jooses (3-5ml) in bottles.

Syringe is the fastest, condom is fast, dripping into the carto easy.

I usually fill the boge by dripping. Bigger than that, usually syringe. If I'm playing around with juice, say mixing a couple together or adding some VG or PG, I'll mix the juice in the condom, stir with a toothpick then stick the carto in.

Even though I use tanks I still use the condom method for filling the carto before inserting it into the tank for the first time. I use the condom on the non-threaded end of the carto and fill it until juice comes out the threaded end. Much to my surprise when I looked through the hole that I punched in the carto for the tank (near the threaded end of the carto) I could clearly see that the filler was dry. I suppose this is why some people twirl the carto after filling it using the condom method which uses centrifugal force to get the juice to completely saturate the filler. I know that a syringe can be pushed all the way down to begin filling the carto and backed out as the filling progresses.
Just my observation

I used the condom method and thought it worked well (I was filling it

Speaking of wrong, the first few months I was sticking the wrong end of the carto in when I was doing the condom method and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.

wow so many ways to refill cartos:)..my way i use both simultaneously..on the thread end i fit the condom...on the other, i inject-in my e-liquid..fill to capacity and all i did next is fixed a drip-tip(i like the indestructable chrome(small) then only removed my condom(with the pressure of the drip-tip inserted, liquid will ooze out if U prematurely removed the condom) and blow from drip-tip to clear the passage of the hole(tissue handy to catch the spray )..walah all done and in working order..could filled 4 cartos in less than 5 mins if i wanted but i spend time cleaning all the connector, insides the cylinder and drip-tips with q-tips..how simple is that?..the syringe and condom i only washed/flushed out after all the works done..small amount of diff e-liquids dont make any diff to yr fills..i always have 4 setups of e-cig(510-T,Lcd,VV eGo batteries) with diff juices..just loving it..happy vaping and Merry Xmas to every1..best wishes mafig

When I first came here, I remember reading about this "condom method" and scratching my head about how that worked.

When I realized it was the protective covers for the cartos, it made more sense. :) I tend to just do conventional dripping into my cartos, since my main battery is an auto, and I don't want to fry it. I may invest in a couple sealed batts from Smokeless Image, though.

Does this method waste more juice, though?

you waste less juice doing the needle thing ive noticed. when you do the condom method you waste a lil, maybe a drop or two every time you wipe the carto threads. but ive found the condom method to be easier and a lil better at getting a full carto every time!

Ah, answered my question. Thanks.

I use neither of those methods. I like a method that also works for adding juice during the day. I only have to start a new pair of cartos every 2-3 weeks so it's no trouble for me block the threaded end hole (w/ finger&tissue or w/ a carto spike), drip the liquid in (I add 18 to start per ml of capacity then however many more it will soak in), then clean it up well, then settle it on different sides and the ends. I use thin clear juice, PG w/ 20% or less VG. It may take a bit for the first several drops to soak in and I wait for that then complete the 18 drops per ml of capacity, wait, top it off with whatever it will take.

During the day, I remove the drip tip I'm using as a mouthpiece to check the stuffing or 9with carto off battery) add juice.
