I use neither of those methods. I like a method that also works for adding juice during the day. I only have to start a new pair of cartos every 2-3 weeks so it's no trouble for me block the threaded end hole (w/ finger&tissue or w/ a carto spike), drip the liquid in (I add 18 to start per ml of capacity then however many more it will soak in), then clean it up well, then settle it on different sides and the ends. I use thin clear juice, PG w/ 20% or less VG. It may take a bit for the first several drops to soak in and I wait for that then complete the 18 drops per ml of capacity, wait, top it off with whatever it will take.

During the day, I remove the drip tip I'm using as a mouthpiece to check the stuffing or 9with carto off battery) add juice.

I do this as well for short cartos such as Boges...unless I am using a really high VG juice(85%)........

Speaking of wrong, the first few months I was sticking the wrong end of the carto in when I was doing the condom method and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.

So just to make sure that I am doing it right. I stick the threaded end of the carto is the condom, correct? That is how I did it, and it seem to work pretty well. The person who 1st discovered that technique, was pure genius.

I used condom method and it worked fine, also did drip method and it worked fine but I don't have a syringe yet so I cant say but condom or drip should be fine just drip slowly until it pools and try not to over fill condom bc it can leak into middle of air hole.. Just my two cents.. good luck!

I have tried the needle method and the condom method. What has worked best for me is simply tilt the cart to about 45 degrees and aim the drops next to the wall of the cart and filler material and slowly rotate the cart with each drop. Basically, trying not to get any down the center hole. After a couple of rotations, I wait a couple of seconds and do it again. I watch until it starts looking slushy or it has been 20 drops and stops absorbing juice. Even if I don't fill it completely, I am good to go for a while.

Been reading all of these replies and looked at a few vids. The Condom method sure looks easy. With any method, how many times can you fill a carto on average? (sry, I'm new)

Depends on how much you smoke and how you inhale. I am so paranoid of burning a carto I add a few drops a couple of times a day.

EDIT: Please mind this thread where I make a fool of myself and ultimately contend that using a syringe is a much better method http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapor4life/77791-problems-filling-cartomizers-2.html

Here is a video most new Vaporers latch onto....58,000 people duped into the worst way to fill cartomizers...sad really.

A Great Way To Fill Cartomizers - YouTube

Here's what doesn't get shown on video, what they edit out and what you need to see.

Remember...Friends don't let friends use the condom method! Join me and thousands of other experienced Vapors as we eradicate the most over-hyped and wasteful method of refilling Cartomizers. If you lose 3-4 drops per refill blowing out the air wick tube hole, wiping down the Cartomizer, cleaning out the threads, and the residual juice left in the condom. You are shorting yourself 4 full Cartos per 30ml bottle of juice.

The Condom methods is the largest contributor to killing Auto Batteries and Chargers. This method also leads to burning up Cartos since most vapors after watching videos like the Doctor's only fill their Cartomizers a 1/4 full.

Some folks will say, "But I use a manual"...So? You may not short out your battery, but everything else applies and in most cases you will end up clogging up your airflow intake holes if you use an KR808. Or need to clean your batteries weekly....don't believe me....what's all that black stuff on the threads of your battery?

Whenever somebody boasts about the Condom Method for refilling....just shake your finger at them and tell them, "NO!"

You can find videos on the Drip Refill and Syringe Method which I highly recommend by clicking on the link below. There a bunch of helpful videos designed to save you money and to help you get the best out of your vaping experience. Vape On America!!!!

Using a syringe is incredibly easy and quick. I fill a Ressurector in about 10 seconds. Using a syringe takes all the guess-work out of filling and ensures they are filled correctly. Plus theres not waiting for the juice to settle since you push the needle to the bottom and fill from the bottom up. If you order cartos from CCV you get a free syringe and that syringe is perfect for filling. The condom method works okay for regular size cartos like the Boges, but I find its not as good for XL cartos.
I feel like a lot of people that use the condom method or drip fill because theyve never tried filling with a syringe. I know thats not the case for everyone, but I think if you tryd it, youd realize how quick and easy it actually is.

I originally posted this awhile back for someone that asked how to fill the Ressurectors, but really this is for all cartos. Just instead of putting 2ml of juice in the syringe that the Ressurectors hold, put the amount that whatever carto you are using holds. If you dont know then just put extra and fill slowly. If you watch the top of the polyfill you will see the juice come to the top of the polyfill. Once the top looks "slushy" it is filled completely. Heres the copy & paste.

How to fill a cartomizer with a syringe:

"All you have to do is take the dropper part of the bottle off your juice and fill your syringe with 2ml for a new carto. Take the rubber tip off the carto and carefully insert the needle down the side pushing against the metal. DO NOT go thru the filler because it will move it and you could potentially break a connection and your carto. Slide the needle down the side and go all the way to the bottom. Then slowly start dispensing some juice. Dont dispense it all bc then it won't be evenly distributed. Put alittle in, then take it out and insert the needle in a different spot. I normally do it in 3 spots (in a triangle) I found it distributes the best, but you could just do it in 2, on opposite sides. Make sure the needle is at the bOttom bc then you will not have to wait at all for it to settle. Disperse slowly and you will begin to see the toP of the filler become slushy. It is full then, don't put more. If its a new carto is will def hold 2ml, if your refilling it won't take a lot so pay attention and once it gets alittle slushy stop. While your filling hold a napkin or something under the carto bc if you do it too fast a few drops will come out the battery end. If that happens its only bc you did it too fast and the poly fill didn't absorb quick enough.( that happens to me bc I am impatient and fill it in about 10 sec, so I just hold a paper towel or napkin underneath.) wipe up the drops and put the rubber cap back on the carto. Then put the carto between your hands and rub back and forth spinning the carto quickly. This will insure the liquid is evenly distributed in case you put too much on one side from the syringe.
Now you have a perfectly filled ressurector that is ready to be used right away!"

Follow this and I think youll realize how easy it actually is. Most people catch on very quickly. Filling cartos correctly def helps them to last longer. I get avg 2-4 weeks with one Ressurector.

Hope this helps, Goodluck!

I use this exact method...the only thing I would add is...I leave the bottom condom in place until the fill process is finished(for first fill)...If I have time, I will also allow the carto to lay on its side for 30min and turn it at least once...not absolutely necessary, but then, I do, occasinally, wear a belt with my suspenders..........

Very entertaining thread about how to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
The juice really doesn't care how you put it in the carto, as long as you do.
So use whatever filling method that floats your boat.

How do I fill a carto?
I let the carto fill it's self.

This doesn't look like when I fill using the condom method. I don't get all that extra juice still in the condom. I might have a drop left over, but that’s it. I did notice however, that when filling my KR808D, it doesn’t work to well. Because the cartos are a little smaller in diameter, so it doesn't make a good seal, causing it to not fill good, and leaving more juice in the condom. But when I fill my 510 cartos, it fits snug, and fills up almost all the juice. I only have such a small amount left in the condom, like just a drop.

So I slightly disagree with that video. And yes the end of my carto has some juice on it, but I simply wipe it off with a napkin or something, and it isn’t really that much. I also push down really slowly. I’m my situation, having syringes in the house, is not preferred/ideal. And wasting only 1-2 drops heavily outweighs having the syringes in my house. 1-2 drops doesn’t seem like much to me, maybe I'm wrong? Maybe a couple drops is more juice than I think? I'm a vaping newbie, so what do I know, LOL. But what I do know is, a few drops mean nothing to me.

In conclusion I think that the condom method has a lot of variables. Such as the type of carto being used, and the condom itself. These can vary slightly from different manufactures, and the individual’s technique in filling this way could be slightly different. But it works great for me so far. But I do agree that this method might not be the best idea for auto batteries. You could kill the battery from the juice leaking onto the battery.

You may state you're a newbie but you just posted a very thoughtful rebuttal. Very impressive with the perfect tone and I agree 100%.

Ah yes....conflation, deflection, and a very useful off-topic link to filling Map Tanks...very nice. Indeed Cartomizers like all inanimate objects have no feelings, glad we could get that matter cleared up.

Kind Head there is no doubt that Syringe filling is not for everyone. Some folks have heath issues which makes it difficult to hold a syringe or manipulate a syringe correctly. While other have children in the house or are just simply uncomfortable with syringes...that is completely understandable.

New members are always in search of information especially when they start refilling. Your own experience with the exception of the amount of juice left in the condom when filling 510 Cartos runs in sync with what is shown on the video and what I have stated. I can't think of anything more frustrating for a new Vaporer than to kill their auto battery or charger after filling their first cartomizer.

Many folks these days are on tight budgets so to lose 4 cartos per 30ml bottle or a 100 drops due to spillage may be something they should know and consider when selecting which method to use. After all if you have ever got caught running low on juice while waiting for your next shipment to arrive, 4 cartos might just enough to carry you through.

I too applaud your response it was both candid and constructive. You understand that there will be a certain amount of waste and are aware that this method can lead to damaging equipment such as auto batteries, auto passthroughs, or rechargers. Understating the inherent issues that come with Condom Filling I believe does a disservice to new members who maybe lurking this forum in search of a way to fill cartos. A way that does not endanger their equipment or cause even minimal waste.

Every video I have ever seen on this method gets intentionally edited. The leaves viewers with the false security that there are no issues with this method which is shown in the Doctor's video.

I think you might want to check one of these out:

    http://www.madvapes.com/thumbnail.asp?file=assets/images/3412-1_thumbnail.jpg&maxx=150&maxy=0

This is an easy affordable go between that is 90% as effective as a syringe (some limitations) and is a viable alternative to the Condom Method should you be considering one.

Wishing you the best this holiday season....:2cool:

So you like to use a syringe ..... we get that!
Now why are you making such a big deal out of filling a carto?
    It's not rocket science!
And for clarification, that is not a MAP tank, and I simply pointed out that you don't need to use the syringe or the condom method to fill a carto.
You can even simply drip one full if you want to go to the trouble to do so.
