Refill Woes

I am very new to the refill process. I use the method demonstrated by Snow and filling isn't the issue but I just don't get the satisfaction from the refills I get with pre-filled carts. It seems the flavor isn't as good and not as much vapor. Is this just the way it is and so many do it because it's more economical or does it just take a little time to master the process?

Did you look down the center and make sure there is no juice in the hole? Just asking, because that can sometimes make the refills less satisfying.

Don't worry though, you will get the hang of it soon enough! There is a learning curve so just keep trying!

Have you tried using the taryn spin Ms. Iowa Gal? I've noticed no difference from using a prefilled or self filled carto yet....

No I haven't tried the spin yet, but I do have enough of the velvet pouches I could use one. Jen - I did check to make sure I saw the light through the hole before filling (don't even remember where I read that - but I remembered it I'm not giving up because during the last sale I kind of stocked up (okay so I overstocked but who's keeping track). Just wondered what I should expect going forward.

Welcome to the club! I would get very mixed results for the first 20-30 refills. The art of the refill takes time AND practice ; ) I was never satisfied with the refilled cartos until I got a syringe paired with the RIGHT juice, paired with the RIGHT cartomizer....then it all fell into place and I got 2.5 hours of HEAVY vapor out of a refill. Now I am working on consistency...

FOR ME, the key was to go for DAMP filler as opposed to soaked or WET filler.

OTOH, its hard to beat a Pre-Filled cartomizer from the factory.

Your mileage may vary.

How is my favorite Gal from Iowa doing these days? So refilling isn't the problem it's just seems like the taste and the vapor aren't there...is that right? Just curious as to what type of Cartos you are using Wow or Cool Cartos, if they are Cool Cartos do they have a black wire or blue wire, what flavor of juices you are using and how many drops are you applying?

Taste is always subjective, I prefer juice over prefills but everybody is different.

When I was using 808's I used the condom fill method and found it to be very effective. Just make sure to blow out the excess juice until the draw is clear with no gurgling.

The syringe method is the only way to fill a cart. Bottom up, not top down does the trick for a long lasting cart.

Snow my friend I am refilling Cool Carts - Grape, Green Tea and Peach. I have been careful not to vape the original cart dry and then adding 18-20 drops. In most cases there was not any juice that came out the bottom from overfill and I let them sit overnight. To clarify I am refilling original pre-filled carts, have you had better luck starting with blanks? I won't give up, I'm in for the long haul
And I should clarify - it's not that the flavor is bad - just not as much as orig prefilled cart

If you are refilling pre-filled carts that means they have been used once. Performance degrades with use. Many people use the pre-filleds with no problem and I am sure you will work out a method that is satisfactory. I would personally recommend trying a pack of blank CoolCarts and seeing how that does for you. I personally prefer starting out with blanks. The cart is going to degrade with each use....might as well start as fresh as possible. There ain't nothing like a fresh cart and fresh juice!

If you are using any method other than syringe filling...the taryn spin is highly recommended. It forces the liquid to the bottom. This is why syringe is the best method...you are filling from the bottom up and the liquid is evenly distributed. With the condom method or just dripping you have to wait for it to soak into the filler.
The condom method works just fine once you get a handle on it.....90% of the time it's how I fill.
About 3/4 of a cap full into the mouth end (with the white rubber removed and thrown away)....Taryn spin to force the liquid in(condom on battery end to prevent leakage)...another 1/3 or so of a cap full into the mouth end(remove battery end condom and watch for liquid excess).....Install DripTip, blow gently thru driptip to clear center tube and wipe battery end with tissue.
I never had any need to wait before use. ready to go immediately!

Wader thanks for the info - the syringe just seems so surgical (sp?) Not sure I'm ready for that. Hey Snow me again - this is a question for tomorrow or when your daughter feels better - but just tried my refill of Wow Peppermint and the results were much better. Are the WOW carts better for refill. I know I am a PIA but that's just part of my charm..... If you weren't so smart I wouldn't bother you all of the time I actually have blank Cool Carts and Wow carts in my arsenal from the last big sale... just haven't used them yet so I'm ready for anything....

Finally got her to bed, she has a touch of the stomach flu. By all means set your pre-filled cartos aside and use your blanks. In the meantime I will send you a pm tomorrow with a youtube link. i personally recomend getting an ammo box and syringe refilling and letting them sit upright in the box at least 24 hours. i find that this get as close as possible to original performance.

I started using the taryn spin for quick refills and it is really helping getting the max amount of juice in there.

Syringe method is next on my list.
