Hello. I'm having a bit of trouble with hard draw/plugging and overheating with my filled carts... both refilled used carts and new blanks. They seem to pull nice for about 10 draws, then become increasingly difficult and/or overheat. The Auto PT makes it a bit easier, but then they also overheat really fast. I've followed the steps in the movie, also with the Taryn Spin method, and I've even done a few syringe refills... is this just how it is?

Thanks!

EDIT: I should also point out that I am not overfilling... about 16 drops on the new blanks, even less on the refills.

Overheating can happen if you try to take too many draws off an e-cig too quickly. You have to give the juice time to wick down to the atomizer, otherwise it will dry out and overheat. Try taking a couple puffs, then letting it sit for a bit, then a couple more, etc. You'll get the hang of how long it takes for the juice to wick back down to the atomizer. You can't draw on them as fast as an analog cig, especially with juices that are thick to begin with. Another trick is to take a couple puffs then in a downward motion (like you are throwing it to the floor) give a couple of quick thrusts downward so you force the juice toward the atomizer/battery end of the e-cig. Sometimes that helps in hastening the juice down to the wick on the atomizer when you are speed puffing. ;)

Thanks, Fairlane. Sounds like I need to settle down a bit. lol. Do you think the hard draw is the same issue then? I let them sit for a day or two, and they are still difficult to pull on. Maybe I should try adding some more liquid?

Thanks again.

Does anyone know of a cut-away view or an "anatomy of a cartomizer?" I toasted my first so figured I could sacrifice it and take it apart to examine. I notice there's a wire amongst the batting that you can't ordinarily see. What is it and why is it there? How does the hole get off center? Why is it a good idea to center it? If one replaces the batting with Eheim filter floss as is recommended in some of the forums, how do you form the hole? Or is the hole essential?

When I opened one of my cartomizers, the batting was completely covering the hole. I didn't notice any difference while vaping it. I suppose, before refilling, I should rearrange the batting so it doesn't cover the center hole?

Also, in the video you mentioned you had refilled the one at least 8 times. Is that using the same batting that came in the cartomizer, or did you change batting?

I am new to the forum and I have been vaping for a month. I've been using my V4L 808 for about 2 weeks (love it) and I have used every type of method I have been able to find to refill the carts. I am still having the problem that they never taste or work as well as they did when they were new.

I have been making sure to open the carts, even brand new ones, to make sure the hole is lined up and still find every cart is different in production. I have made the discovery that if you fill the cart w/o any end caps and just tilt it the liquid absorbs better for immediate use. I have also noticed that every fill on a cart decreases how long it lasts. Has anyone else experienced this one?

Is anyone else out there dealing with the consistency problem?

I have also tried different methods as far as starting the week with 7 and try to make them last all week by either filling the same one over and over again until it dies or waiting until the end of the day and refill the ones I used. It seems that no matter which way I go, I still use about 15ml (3 5 ml botttles) a week.

Does anyone have some suggestions on methods that work for them?

I can honestly say that it seems like no matter what I do, the cost will at least be double that any of my 3-piece e-cigs. I'm not complaining about that because it is still 50% less than my previous analong addiction. I would just like to get as close to the same flavor as the new ones. By the way I vape 3 carts a day (new ones) worth. If they are refilled carts about 5-6.

When you fill, try Taryn's spinning trick. You don't have to read the whole thread, the first post will do. If you don't have a battery bag, use a glove or something.

Also, after a few refills, you might need to rinse the cartos out in hot water. Just run it out of the faucet and into the open end (after removing the cap & o-ring. Blow it out to get most of the water out.

Thank you sooo much. I am going to give that a try right now and let you know how it works. I must have missed the boat on the fact that you can rinse these out. I don't know why I didn't realize you could rinse these out like the others. I guess I miss my mind the most too heehee. Can you clean these carts with mouthwash, soda, etc. like the 501 attys? Do you know what the filling material in these things is?

You should remember these are disposable for a reason, although I've only tossed a couple of them. Cleaning keeps them going for longer. I'm don't I would bother with redoing the batting if it got to that point, I'd just toss it and grab a fresh one.

I'd stick to water or everclear/vodka for cleaning, remember will likely be vaping up the residue of whatever you clean with.
