The mech v. VV/VW argument will go on forever. Uninformed newbies will always be a concern; if it's not unregulated mods, it will be batteries they misuse.
On another note, I really don't get the P3 (PayPal Paranoia).
I've had a PP account practically since inception, have never had any problems, and security measures are far more secure now than they were when PP launched. I've experienced numerous compromised banking issues using credit cards with traditional online stores and subscription services yet never a problem with PP when buying from the ECF classifieds or elsewhere.
I use a bank and a credit union and both have very effective anti-fraud measures in place and actually notify me of any potentially suspect activity.
I think the P3 folks should reconsider the diligence and security measures used (or not used) by their bank instead of blaming a service they clearly haven't used, at least recently.
