I have a VV mod, several bottom feeders at various voltages, tube mods that can perform at 3.7 and 6v, etc. I got all of these in hopes of finding that "sweet spot" of vapor production with throat hit and flavor. They all perform well (I do not write this to rip one mod at the expense of another, but I want it known at the outset that I have tried multiple options), but each lacks something.

My issues have been either the batteries did not last long enough, or that the TH was weak, or that I had to fill constantly--in various combinations. I wanted a solution that let me leave the house and not have to deal with the apparatus at all, just hit it when I wanted and that was that. 14500 batteries, in my experience, lasted about 4 hours and the lifespan of the batteries themselves was spotty. I tried high-drains, different brands, different chargers, etc. and all fell just a bit short. Same with 16340s.

I "discovered" dual-coil cartos, and they are perfect at 3.7v. So, I knew I did not need a VV anymore. My 5v mod was great with standard carts, but battery life sucked, as I mentioned. I figured for my next mod I needed a feed system and long-lasting 3.7v. From previous experience I knew that 18650s give long battery life and aren't too huge--not only that, but the extra-long life batts don't include a feed system, and the external feed systems i have tried blow.

So I weighed my options, and decided on a REO Grand. Why?

1) It is all mechanical. No wires, not switch to break. I have had to send multiple mods back because of switches failing. I always got great service when that happened, and I do not consider that a failure of the makers, but of materials. That risk is reduced if not eliminated with this mod. It seems like you could submerge it in water and after drying it out it would still work. I am not going to try it, of course, but the lack of wires adds to the piece of mind (Iron Maiden FTW!).

2) It is metal. Metal=Durable at least in my mind. I can be clumsy, and I did not want to panic every time I dropped my device. It happens to the best of us....

3) 6ml of juice in the bottle. My 3ml bottle require topping off during the day. More liquid means less hassle.

I am currently using 3000mah Trustfires, and I get over a day easy with them. Every morning I top off the bottle and change the battery and I am good until the next morning. I carry an extra battery and atty just in case, but I can now leave them in the car, as opposed to having them on me (along with juice) all the time.

I can go shopping with my wife, we can stop off for a cocktail, meet up with friends, hoist few, get some dinner, have a few more cocktails, wail until the daybreak (no last call where I live) and I don't have to even think about my device. It's great! Everybody vapes at a different rate, and i'd say I am in about the middle to chain-vaping (when I drink) so YMMV compared to mine in that sense.

The device itself is a work of art. The fit is phenomenal, no rattles, nothing loose, or anything else. I think it is machined out of one piece of aluminum--I wouldn't know the difference as I am not a machinist. But the fit and finish are superlative. An oft overlooked detail is in the feed bottle--most are too stiff and after a time they "crush" on one side and wear out, making them a pain to deal with. The bottle(s) that come with the Grand are softer plastic, and are not susceptible to this. I found this to be a nice touch.

It does have a learning curve. You don't need to feed it as often as you'd think. The first day I got it I overfilled a couple of times, but by the end of the day I had it down without thinking. If you have bottom feeder experience it will be easy to get the hang of.

It is comparatively heavy. It weighs at least twice what my tube mods do, and three times a box mod. I like this, but that is something to consider. Some people hate the idea of "lugging stuff around", but for me the weight is offset by not having to carry juice and batts in my pockets all the time. I am always holding the device anyway, so the few extra ounces are not a hinderance.

I think I had found the perfect solution for me, and it is the REO Grand. Simply put, it is as close to perfect as anything made by humans.

so the dual coils work well with the no-needle feeding of the reo? I myself have a grand and have pondered the duals. Got one from a friend I haven't touched yet. So you pretty much fill the carto and just give her a little squeeze to top off?

I too am curious about this. I absolutely love my Grand, but I haven't quite found the best way to top off standard carts without filling my mouth with juice on the first few post top off drags. BigD, any tips?
