I gently sanded one of mine(gold contacts) before I learned better, no harm though. Now I gently wipe them with a pencil eraser then put on a dab of Noalox. Works great! I also don't remove my atties once I get them installed and adjusted to my liking. Less wear and tear...

It's a good idea to go very lightly on the Noalox. A tiny amount will do. I've noticed that Noalox turns to a thick gel that hinders solid contact in cold temperatures... especially when applying more than is needed.

I have been using Deoxit D as a cleaner and the Deoxit gold and seem to like it better than Noalax.

The Deoxit is not a grease so there is no build-up.

There seems to be different kinds of Deoxit. Wonder which one is truly the best? Did you get the tube; pen; brush bottle; or spray? Got a link to where you purchased yours?

I would want to use it for other purposes other than just batteries. I'm thinking it would help give Neg and Pos posts a better connection as well. Have you tried that yet?

I got the D100L cleaner bottle/brush for use before applying deoxit gold, which I got the pen style, which works great. I use a white eraser first, then iso alcohol, then D100L, and finally then deoxit gold... keeps performance top notch for at least a month- I build @ 0.5ohms.

FB uses the deoxit shield I think- but maybe not for reo stuff.... If you plan on taking your reo in the wilderness or harsh enviroments you may want to consider this one.

I use the D100L on my battery charger as well. I have used it in some 18650 flashlights too. A little goes a long way- I will probably never use my whole bottle.

Eeek! For our purposes anything but the spray! Lord what a mess that would make. Great for cleaning audio control pots with the extension tube attached - wouldn't want it showered all over my Reo innards. That's about the only thing I can think of for why anyone would want the spray version.

One the negative end of things best place for this stuff is on the screw & bare metal threads for that screw in the Reo body that holds the plate for the spring in place. That's the key point where the contact is going on from the battery spring assembly to the body of the Reo itself.

Thanks for the links. I've read a lot about Deoxit, and gonna give it a try. Read that the pen style sometimes clogs up. I'm thinking about getting the bottle with the brush in it since it's 7.4ml. (HERE) Does it work just as good as the pen does? Think I read that it dries and forms a thin coating.

For anyone who wants the dirt(?) on the whole product line, here. ~>~>~> CAIG Laboratories - Home of DeoxIT® & Hand-E-Glove®

Yeap, I use the stuff. read CAIG site some of the solutions are 100% some are diluted. I use D100L (red) in the bottle with a brush to clean contacts, very handy for anything that has had a battery leak.

S100L (blue) in a bottle with a needle applicator for all contacts that are not gold. It has a slight bit of cleaner in it also.

I use Gold G100L (yellow) in a 2ml tube for all gold contacts, it has no cleaner in it.

bonds with the contact, increases conductivity, redistributes. I apply a liberal amount.

If you're using a flat top battery and a button cover on your Reo, pull the cover off and see if it fires more consistently. If it does the contact isn't reaching the battery like it should. Put a tiny washer or anything really into the button a spacer to get you more reach. I had this problem.

Yep after 2 Reos had to go back to the spa for 510 surgery, I had to break myself of being a button smasher. I use flat top 18650 25whatevers and had to remove the snazzy button covers to get a feel how much to push till it fired. I thought the button was like my gas pedal...the harder I pushed the faster I got vapor.

I started having a bit of an intermittent firing issue on one of my grands. I applied Deoxit gold to the positive contact pin, the tops and bottoms of all the batteries and the REO jumped to life. I always keep the REO's clean but I got a little casual about using the deoxit on everything. I will not make that mistake again.
