I went to a friend's house yesterday. We had homemade ice cream! I didn't take my dog. A lot of times I will take her over there, but not every time. When I got back home, she was sniffing me. She knew where I had been, and was not happy that I left her at home. I don't get out as much as I used to. The weather is starting to cool down ever so slowly. That is such a relief. The summer heat has been getting the best of me. Come on fall!!!

not for me!! I'm hangin on to the last bit of summer with a vengeance. I freeze in the winter. Shame on you not bringing her a doggy cone! lol

Deb, I didn't say come on WINTER. LOL. I said come on FALL. I love spring and fall. I could pass on summer and winter. If they must be here, a brief season would suit me just fine! When I was young, I loved summer. It was my favorite time of the year. But you know, all kids are like that. Freedom from school, and time to be with your friends. Back then we had a lot more freedom, than most of today's kids do. I would leave in the morning, come back at lunch. After lunch I would be gone until supper. Sometimes I'd come in to guzzle cold water out of the fridge. We didn't have internet, or electronic games. We used our imagination, rode bikes, made forts, played army, played every sport we could think of, if we had the equipment. Sometimes I think kids nowadays are missing out on that type of childhood. They would be bored out of their minds for a while, in the beginning though...lol. Some days I rode my bike so long during the day, that I almost had sea legs. When I got off the bike, it felt weird to just walk on the ground. Those who have been on a ship for a length of time know what I mean. I bet not many kids know that feeling, from riding their bikes so long. We'd play cowboy and indians, cops and robbers, all of it. I always wanted to play the indian by the way. We'd have dirt clod wars on a mound of dirt. We had fake sword fights. We climbed trees. Hide and go seek, out in the woods. I would not want a kid doing that now. It is simply too dangerous. You all know why. Okay I have strayed from subject. It is supper time.

I agree really quiet, that's when I usually ask my questions, get more attention that way, LOL!
good, that's what we need!!

Yippie ya hoo for you!!!Sounding real good:)
knew you'd like that! :)

Deb, I didn't say come on WINTER. LOL. I said come on FALL.
we don't have fall here hun!! hehehe Well we do sorta, but it's usually like 1-3 days! lol

I totally agree about our childhoods. We didn't have such obesity problems, and certainly not in kids, cuz we were outside all day long. We were expected with no watch to know when it was time for supper and be home, then back out sometimes til the street lights come on. After totally dark, couldn't leave the yard. And, we had imaginations! Barbie came with a pr of shoes and one outfit. If you got more clothes, someone usually made em. Tongue depressors taped to the bathtub were diving boards.....popsicle sticks were skis. The plastic thing in a orange pushup was an umbrella, take the stick out it was a toboggan, etc etc.

oh and you didn't stray from the subject, we don't have one here, it's whatever anyone wants to talk about.

Deb I think many of us had a similar childhood experience back then. Yes, we have a very short fall here, and spring. It is usually either hot as hades, or cold.

Yes, I didn't have a watch either back then. Not until I was a teenager. My mom was a stay at home mom. So she kept up with where we were supposed to be. We didn't go far, but we had freedom in that perimeter. If the lights flicked on outside, you better be in the yard. One time I was not. I will never forget that mistake. We had woods around here. When we were a little older, we could have fun in there. I could play dot to dot with all of the mosquito bites. My mom used to coat me with OFF when I was a kid. We played at the creek too. I used to bring home all sorts of critters. I used to make terrariums, and fill goldfish bowls with tadpoles, and watch them grow up. I caught turtles, and lizards. One time we brought home a huge snapping turtle. We didn't know it was a snapping turtle, but my mother freaked when she saw it. We rarely went camping, because my mother did not like tent camping. Her idea of roughing it was renting a cabin. I used to take my kids camping quite a bit, and fishing. So they did get some quality time in the outdoors. I think it is important. Now my kids are grown of course. We can laugh about some of the things that happened when we were camping. Our best friends liked to go with us. The kids had the time of their lives. My friend had two girls, and raised her niece and nephew, for a few years. Those kids had a blast. Those memories will last a life time. Hopefully they will take THEIR KIDS camping too. Oh and the dogs usually love to go camping too. The sight of a kid, and their dog, in the great outdoors just warms your heart!

Mornin pat!! That warmed my heart!

Howdy Debadoo, RedhatPat here thanking you for your honesty. My only opinion about how fast or slow it gets in the REOlounge lately, while at the same time agreeing with Jim, even alluded to me by another REO-Vet is that in a nutshell: the activity just comes 'n goes in no predictable pattern based on too many factors to list. The important thing to never forget are the folks who have touched you directly or even indictectly in some cases as a group effort with just about everything under the sun from REO Tech support to relationship advice. Heck, if I had the money, I'd probably have hit up some REOvillian for Stock tips on Wall Street by now:eek::shock::p:w00t:

And I don't just mean socially, folks. We're all ex-smokers so that's as varied a group ya'll can get in general. But I have two very different devices in my arsenal which have passed my test of time & community. The first is a no-brainer and can be traced back to my very first post in REOville (maybe in the REOlounge, too). The seond bares no need of mentioning. Let's just say, it's a Mechanical tube-style that Darrel jokingly refers to as vibrating female products:D
