This is Goose. 3.5yr old German shepherd I've had since he was 10 weeks old. He doesn't understand his size, but he's a great lap dog.

Ziggy looks so much like our first shepherd, Dakota, with the bigger head.

Dakota with hubs and kiddos about ten years ago..I sure miss him. He was our gentle giant.

And kill shelter? So glad you got Fritz out of there on time rudy!

Yes Ziggy is a big boy, 100 lbs! European bred. Big head and shorter snout, bigger boned than American shepherds.Gentle giant with the kids but wouldn't want to be a stranger coming to the house!
Fritz is great. Can't believe I found him on an adoption website. Had him transported with a rescue network up to CT. He was 60 lbs when I got him, looked like a greyhound with GSD markings! Now he is a nice filled out 85 lbs and such a joy! very smart ( typical shepherd). Lots of energy and he knows he went from the outhouse to the penthouse!
I'm sure it was like losing a family member as you spoke of Dakota in the past tense. Sorry for your loss. Did you get another shepherd?

I've grown up with GSDs, my dad was with the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police: think typical red uniform canadian police. Dudley Doright) here in Canada and trained the K9. We've had so many dropouts come through our home over the last 26 years.
Everyone told me that Goose will mature at 3yrs old, and I just laughed and laughed, he's the biggest goofball and acts like he's 2 months old. One big puppy coming in at 94lbs. He actually came from a farm, they had ten puppies.
Too smart for his own good.

I love these dogs so much. I could sit and look at them all day they are so majestic.

Good for Fritz! And you too! These dogs really give back when it comes to attention, affection and devotion. I'm glad you have him and he has you.

Yes, Dakota passed in 2005 and about 5 weeks later our second, Bristol who is in the first pic I posted, was born. We brought him home at 5 weeks of age. Bristol has a sister who we adopted about two weeks before he came to live with us. Daisy is supposed to be a mix of white shepherd and yellow lab but she's so small, about 35 pounds, that we're sure the owners of Daisy's mom had no clue. My bro in law swears she looks like she's part coyote because she's so narrow and slim.

Shop Vac is not a bad idea for the loose stuff. We use a Bissell of some sort with a big removable tank (not bags). The beater bar with the brush is what gets the white/gray undercoat out of the dark carpeting. Now for furniture and the car seats we use a Red Devil little unit with a brush/beater bar. BTW, we never wear black clothes! lol

I resorted to using strips of packing tape before we bought our new sofa and love seat. The hair would weave itself into the fabric on our old set. When we bought our new set we looked for material that the hair couldn't get into. Luckily we have just one room with carpeting, I can't imagine a whole house with carpeting and this kind of dog hair lol!

We brush our dogs with the FURminator and finish off with the Love glove. The FURminator is expensive but is the best dog brush *on the planet*. I swear by it. It has helped reduce dog hair around the house by at least 50% and that's huge with these chronic shedders.
