Thanks all! I knew I could count on my Reo friends. So RTD emailed me and the only button top in 18650 is Efest 1600 mAh which I need for my Grands. I’m kind of a loyalist with businesses. They do have the Samsung 30Q (flat top friendly) that I’m in love with for my P67. They presently have no 18490’s for my little Woodville but may be having them produced. Their (RTD) track record has always been stealth and I want to support that (and also don’t have any experience outside of them).

Any thoughts on the Efest 1600 Other proven businesses? I could go with @bushmaster suggestion on the button top Samsung. I take battery quality quite seriously. Learned that from other people’s experience. Why would I buy a quality mod like a Reo and put anything less than quality in it?

Thanks in advance dear wise ones!

I've read the AW factory had a flood, and there is a shortage of their batteries.
Don't have experience with the Efest 1600, but have been using flat tops in my Grands for 4 years without issue.
Same here. I didn't like the long throw of the positive post using flattops, so I purchased magnets to mimic using buttontops. Did that for awhile but found myself forgetting to remove the magnets at charging time and forgetting which cells had magnets and it became more trouble than it was worth. I decided to try to become comfortable with using flattops "as is". Old dogs can apparently learn new tricks and I now use LG H2's and Samsung 30Q's interchangeably. Both are outstanding batteries and I no longer even notice the long throw. Works well for me. YMMV. Good luck.:)

(Picture an emoji slapping their forehead)..... It never even occurred to me to try non button tops in my Grand before. Thanks @puffon and @bushmaster for sharing your experience. This old dog is gonna go and try that new trick. Bummer that AW’s factory flooded though....

I wish I had an answer for you @jifjifjif for your new 510 but I’m betting someone will. Fingers crossed!

UP—DATE: the 30Q’s work fabulously in my Grands too! Yahoo!

I drilled out the old 510 on one of my Grands and enlarged the hole a bit
It's probably one 16th bigger in diameter than it should be
I want to install a new 510, but I need it snug, obviously
Any suggestions on how to fill that gap?

Clean the hole and 510 with Q-tip/alcohol
Apply very thin layer of JB Weld to the outside of the 510, too much will make a mess
Gently push the 510 into the hole while rotating slowly
When you have the 510 at the right level in the REO
Lay the REO on its side to let the epoxy dry

Google "JB Weld", its the best epoxy I've ever used
I use JB Weld all the time for many years, it always works for me and its very durable
Its a two part epoxy, mix equal parts of each part, steel and hardener

@jifjifjif
I don't thing the epoxy will work as the 510 is what conducts with the body of the device otherwise you would have to solder a wire onto the 510 and ground it to the body... Have you contacted @Eric Parlin to see what he would suggest?

I was thinking the same, but maybe if the bottom of the new 510 connector is sitting in the mod touching the body, the JB Weld will just hold it in place?

I know the trick with wood glue matching the wood, add some sawdust to the glue and it blends right in. Can you apply that to JB weld? If one were looking for conductive JB weld, can metal shavings be added to the goop and make it conductive??? Just thinking out loud (ish).

Did you already get these @Robinowitz ??? YMMV but I don't like the sammy 30Qs in my P67. They are fine in the grand but seem a bit too big around in the P67. I wonder if it touched something due to that when the spring dropped, cuz I haven't found another reason why it would have suddenly happened. Vaping fine, then poof.

I'd been using the brown tootsie roll batts in both and had thought about trying the VTC 5As, but after the 30Qs being a tad too big, I think I'll stick with the LGs. I know they work great. I expect they're all past the deal about respectable vendors getting bad ones that happened. It was close to 2 years ago

Concerning batteries, is there some kind of international law that prevents us from ordering AW batteries from say Greece? I was looking at a site called atmizone, and they have all 3 sizes in stock.

yes there is! hehehe newp, but this sums it up so well

Why would I buy a quality mod like a Reo and put anything less than quality in it?

I'm sure there are other places to get quality, it's just been a long standing thing, that we all know we can trust RTD for sure. I've always heard orbtronics and illumn are also very trustworthy. so those are my go to places. RTD if they have what I want in stock.

I thought so, which is why I didn't post the link, it has been A long time and couldn't remember for sure. :(

I have read a few posts about Orbtronic's, being good quality. I don't know from experience though.

For whatever its worth, I've ordered from Orbtronic's a number of times. One of the fastest shippers I've known--always went out on the same day I ordered it. Arrived within two days here in Washington. That said, I've only ordered the LG H2 batteries from them each time and they were the real deal--authentic LG H2's.
As far as the Orbtronic branded batteries, I do not know. Never ordered any but my gut feeling is that they would be good. Straight--shooting outfit as far as I can tell. JMO

BTW, what a fun time speaking with you today!
I’ve been emailing RTD the last couple of days and their responsiveness is once again, very spot on. After trying the 30Q’s in my Grands with no problem, I went ahead and went with them for my P-67 and Grands. Looking forward to simplifying the battery situation. Will keep ya all posted and thank you all for sharing your experience. Love Reoville!

Hey @jifjifjif, did you get your 510 sorted? If it were me I would call Eric but then again, I’m not very technically inclined. (But can learn new tricks).

Just a thought perhaps Eric could design a new positive contact so button top batteries wouldn't be needed.
