Hi folks, having trouble finding the right build to maximize flavor on the bf Atomic for my Reo. I know this atty can produce, but I haven't found it. I have a natural born affinity for RTAs, but drippers tend to elude me

This is what I built. Dual 7 wraps of 28g on 3/32" ID. Resistance is 0.7ohm. I have them as close to the deck edge as I can get without shorting and tilted to maximize saturation when squonking. They are lighting up exactly at the same time, producing major vapor, but flavor is definitely missing. So this is not the right build.

I have quite the rta collection. I have found my perfect build for the magma (for me). Built the Divo, no problem, love it! Have had an RM2 for a few months, no problem there. Some of my tanks are dual coil, so yep, can build those.

Please recommend an Atomic build :). Single or dual, doesn't matter, so long as I get my flavor fix.

Sounds like my build, and it was the first dual semi-lung-hit that I really enjoyed.
Mines more wraps, 28g but smaller diameter - I think 1.9mm.
Only pic I have was the first build - quite sloppy, but it worked...
This was .8 ohms, wicked with Shiseido.

Easiest thing to try would be to adjust the coil heights up and down, testing with each adjustment. That and trying less wicking - coils might be slightly starved.

You can try different coil builds, but you've settled on a design that works for you in other RBA's, it should work nicely with the Atomic.

I found the atomic to be meh for me vis-a-vis flavour, but others feel it gives what they want.

Also look at coil placement and clearance in relation to the air holes. Think about how the air will flow. To get maximum flavor and vapor make sure you can get good flow under and over the coil. Too low, to close, to far , too much cotton can inhibit the air flow robbing you of flavor and / or vapor.

I've run two of those (28 gauged contact coils with cotton wicking) in an atomic and they've been just great. Nets out to .5 - plenty warm and full enough. Flavour was about as good as I got, but I had to futz with the placement until I found the optimal adjustment slightly in from where the convention is for a RM2.

Ok, I'm going to rebuild in a moment with 2 of those and see what I can come up with. I watched some build videos last night, but didn't find them helpful. Rip Trippers is using a single 26g, 12 wraps on something tiny. IMO, 12 wraps is insane. That's when its time to go to 28g, lol!

I have a question for you....do you like cooler vapes or warm to hot vapes? I first had issues similar to yours finding my sweet spot when I first got my RM5. Vapor has always been awesome but was lacking in flavor. I experimented with a lot of different coil builds all built on 28g and there was only one that I found I liked. Simple 8 wrap micro coils wrapped on 5/64 bit and wicked with rayon fibers.

This build eventually got old and I wanted more flavor and vapor. I heard about rip trippers, funny dude and was inspired to build even crazier coils using thicker gauge wire. I got some 24g and built the stove top coils. Those are the hottest coils I've ever had in my rm5 and they are the reason my rm5 doesn't have anymore charcoal paint on the ring. Anyway, I actually liked the stove tops but they killed my batteries and drank juice. Then I tried a double parallel 4 wrap coil using 24g around 5/64 bit and honestly that is one of my favs. Produces amazing flavor and really good vapor. (+1 for double parallel), then I eventually tried simple 4 wrap ugly coils. The ugly coils are my fav at the moment and is what works for me. I wrap 24g around a q-tip stick, 4 wraps spaced and wicked with rayon fibers. It's a warm vape, produces flavor, and still chunks the vapor. My juice is 25/75vg mix at 6mg.

I don't even use 28g anymore, mainly 24g builds for me I only use rayon fiber and I like my builds low ~.2 to ~.4 ohms. Good luck finding your sweet spot.
