I'm have a heck of a time with one of my 4 Reos. Its the first one I ever got, a black wrinkle. It keeps cutting out or hitting really poor, started a few months ago.

I have cleaned it, filed it, noaloxed it, talked nice to it and swear to it. Problem keeps coming back. I know if I pop it open and twist/spin the batter a bit it goes away. I have tired different RM2's and even an atomizer on it and it has the same problem. Today I did another cleaning, file, noalox, rebuilt the RM2, etc. and it worked fine for awhile. Problem came back after a short time.

It is, um, upsetting.

Anyone have suggestions?

If you spin the battery and it goes away your Reo is dirty are you using a fine metal file ? and make sure to get the noalox on the tip good also get some fine emery cloth and clean your battery top I assume you are using AW IMR batts ?

If nothing else works, send it to the Reo spa in Maine.

So far I have been keeping mine working very well with all the excellent advice Rob gives. But when you put it like that, I almost feel guilty my poor workhorse grand doesn't get a spa day! It really deserves it for being such a reliable and hard worker.

Well, I grabbed a fresh battery this morning and sanded both the contacts. So far, so good. I'll take her out of the day and see if she peters out or not.

I do use a metal file, I got a cheap set at Wally's since none that I had would work.

I thought of the spa trip, but she is only a few months old. I am holding out for the upgraded contact kits Rob wrote about, thought I would do the upgrade and see.

Update: Drat, while typing this I took a hit and nada. Looks like its off to the spa. Sniff, sniff. I'll miss her while she is gone. I'll send a note to Rob to today - I need to make sure there is room for her at the Spa.

Would a fine sanding sponge work for the battery top? I've got several of those around here somewhere.

Dang it! Was hoping you wouldn't have to send it. Well, I'm sure it will have a nice, relaxing time at the spa, and come back rejuvenated!

Could be the other end of the battery, try cleaning the top of the spring and bottom of the battery.

I just thought of cleaning the spring today...you were ahead of me. I need to get something better to do it with tomorrow and give it a shot. Everything is pointing towards a contact issue somewhere.

Eureka....

I based on every-ones suggestions I focused on the spring today. Took it out completely so I could clean the top contact point as best as possible. Figured I noalox it while i was at it - good idea ltrainer. Hit the top contact with a file again for good measure.

Been working perfect ever since. :vapor:

Thanks everyone@

I remember roughing out the contact of telephone terminal just to get the" noise" reduce, took me half an hour just for a contact abt the size of all the mod. I can tell u, u never know the difference just by plain sight. Unless u use a microscope, u never know there is so much grooves, which reduces the contact on your batteries.
