In the past whenever I have had a few attys or coils pop on me in a short amount of time it has been the battery.
If a couple pop in a row I set aside the battery and grab another battery.
90 % of the time it has been the battery causing the short, not the coil or atty.
My active batts at this time include, 8 Rivas, 6 iGos, 2 iGo Revolvers, 4 1300 510 Revolvers {my favorites} and a bunch of other smaller revolvers.
Mrs Huffin was swapping out standard crystals left right and sideways telling me it was a freshly charged battery. I handed her another battery and all the carts were all good.
I usually have two or three active replaceables in use.
The replaceable last longer using the 510 connection batteries. They also virtually never leak at the connection base when not over tightened.
The standard 510 crystal sometimes restricts the draw vs. the replaceable which has an unrestricted draw.
Why the difference? I don't have a clue
As far as the tank being crooked or off center Ill bet they have been dropped
If they are off center just run your fingernail around the base of the plastic and you can feel the space where it has lifted
I remove them from the battery and remove the tip.
I then stand it up with the battery connection on the bottom placed on my desk.
I grab my harmonica case and place it on the top where the tip has been removed.
I give the harmonica case a thump with my palm and the tank drops right back into place
If you don't own a harmonica {it works the best} a vitamin bottle top down or an aspirin bottle etc also works well
