having a super hard time with the silver wire, wondering if nickel will work better.
If you could fit the DMM in the box it would be cool - and add a discharge button to it.

Nickel does work better but don't give up on it. Takes a little practice, play around with the voltage and make sure you have a good contact on the wire. I also found it helped to try and hold the wires together as long as possible after the spark, I know it's a little tricky when you can't see though![]()
Dudes..... they are AC meters. Ya'all need DC meters
Good catch!
Here is a dc one. 3 1 2 Blue LCD Digital Volt Panel Meter DC 500V | eBay
And one that doesnt require seperate power source 1×DC 300V Analog Panel Volt Voltage Meter Voltmeter Gauge 85C1 White 0 300V DC | eBay
Nice gsa, now find me a smaller size...too big for my use.

Harbor Freight had a sale this past weekend and they had little cheap DMMs that run on a 9v bat for 2$ so I bought four of themI'm gona rip one down and mount in a box with the flash and posts so it will read volts out and have terminals for resistance checking as well.
That's a 2-6S lipo voltmeter, chances are it will only read up to ~30V.
LOL I was just looking at these little flash bulbs in these disposables. I wonder how well they would hold up inside some mesh.
Yeah Tom's right. We need 300 plus VDC.
I found and ordered a 333.3VDC small meter for $5.80. Dimensions: 40.5mm x 24mm x 17.5mm
Just won't push it to the flash max of 345VDC
