Well I just tried a Sidesho and figured more reviews couldn't hurt for people on the fence. All I've smoked before is an 801 and a Blu. Given the similarities I'm comparing it solely to a Blu.
APPEARANCE:
Definitely a winner. The batteries are sleek and stylish. The black is matte and a bit understated due to that which I liked. Personally I don't get a black ecig for flash. It works well with the red atty with black logo. Looks damn slick. The red battery is definitely rockin'. Gloss finish, deep red, looks hot without being tacky. The only possible complaint you could have is that the red of the atty is SLIGHTLY off from the red of the battery but it's hardly noticeable even up close nevermind at a distance of a couple feet.
As for length the manual battery is insignificantly longer than the automatic. You wouldn't even notice it unless you held one against the other specifically to compare them. The outer cart is effectively the same length as the Blu's. I couldn't readily discern any difference in size/length. The outer part of the atty is longer, it's not just a ridge like on a Blu but has a "collar" which I like because the color shows and you can make some cool combinations you couldn't with just an atty/cart to work with. The combined length of the battery + atty + cart is slightly longer than a blu, I'd guesstimate it at roughly an inch, possibly a bit less. Enough to be noticeable but not cumbersome. I'd place it at around the length of a 100 cig. As for weight, I was fine with it dangling between my lips when I wasn't holding onto it.
MECHANICS:
Smooth draw on both manual and automatic. I was drawing more lightly on the manual battery than I had to on my automatic Blu. It definitely felt like less work. Sometimes I've had problems with the Blu being difficult to get a smooth draw from; not so with these. The atty seemed to handle the flow smoothly whether I was drawing faster or slower. With the Sidesho I didn't have any "dead periods" where I was drawing faster than the atty could atomize the fluid and just getting air which HAD happened before with my Blu. It's definitely nice not having to draw hard but also not having to force yourself to slow down to let the vapor creep into your mouth. Manual gets my vote over automatic simply for the draw difference.
I believe the site mentions that the INNER carts are rougly 35% bigger than the Blu's but it seemed to be almost double to me. Refilling 1/2 as often... well... that's huge in my book. Especially when it's delivered with no extra length in the outer cart. That's just bonus fluid space for nothing in my book
I tend to smoke (sneakily) in my office and it seems no matter HOW careful I am inevitably I get some fluid on my fingers and, well, lets leave it at while it is not a large problem I prefer avoiding ANY problems if possible. With these I can fill them up ahead of time since they provide rubber caps to seal them and not have to worry about messing around with E-Fluid at my desk. Also flipping out a cart is much more subtle than messing around with dropper bottles and paperclips.
Battery recharge time seems a tad longer than the Blu but they also last longer than the Blu's so that balances out.
FLAVOR/VAPOR:
More vapor off both bats; no question there. I'd imagine it'd be even better with a pass through but I haven't gotten one quite yet so can't comment beyond supposition.
The flavor is much better. I've been smoking Butter Cream from Tasty Vapor on it. On my Blu (3 different atty's tried including one brand new one that I burned off the initial primer off of first) it taste like waxy air. Almost 0 flavor since it's a very mild flavor to begin with. On the Sidesho you can actually taste it! Thumbs up on flavor.
SUMMARY:
As compared to the Blu: Slightly longer unit, more color options, more LED options, more Juice capacity, less refilling needed, more flavor, more vapor. The automatic batt option over the automatic is a BIG plus for the Sidesho.
It costs a bit more than the Blu but honestly I could really care less. I spent 6$/day on cigs. The difference between one and a half weeks worth of analogs Vs. 2 weeks worth of analogs is an irrelevant difference in my book for a better unit.
Customer service:
Well, that's an entirely different subject and I was writing this primarily about the actual unit performance so I'm not going to comment excessively on that except to say that Modern Vapor provides amazing customer service, support, and help. What Blu provides, well, Customer Apathy? Whatever you'd call it, it as might as well effectively not exist.
Saying that Tony's support is better isn't saying much considering how bad Blu's is so I'll rephrase it and say that in my experience so far his is phenomenal even compared to many other companies who actually DO bother to try.
