I am looking for some advice from other reviewers. :) I have been vaping for about 4 years and I make a living working in the e-cig/vaping industry. I'm the "APV technician" at my local vape shop and I've been at it for 2 years. I have done several reviews on devices and liquids (not for ECF but for different online forums). I really enjoy sharing my experiences with e-cigs and I think that it's important to the industry. With people dropping their cigarettes in favor of e-cigs everyday there are a ton of new people looking for information on which device and liquid would be best for them. This is the way that I feel I can give back to the vaping community. I would really like to start doing video tutorials and reviews but I'm not sure what is the best way to go about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I'm new to this particular forum but I have a lot of experience that I would like to share. My knowledge of devices ranges from sub-ohm RDA's, micro-coils and stainless mesh genny's to standard eGo stuff, VV/VW mods and mech mods alike. I just need some advice on how to get started. Thanks in advance!

Turn on the camera and pretend you're talking to a friend about whatever the item is and you're trying to best explain what it does and does not do and how to use it properly for a safe and enjoyable experience.

If you're doing a liquid review talk about the flavor notes and try it at 5 Watts, 8 Watts, and 10 or 12 watts. Mention the TH and pg/vg ratio of course too.

And if you're looking for text you can make blog post reviews here on ECF.

Thanks EmeraldLeo1982! I'm also looking for suggestions about which venues to speak in specifically and what information is frequently asked for or left out of reviews that are done. I want to contribute not just redo what others are doing lol. I guess I should have put that in the OP. I have the gist of actually making the review.

rounding third and heading home...
most(not all) reviews, while containing bits of useful information, are painful to watch. don't do a review if you don't have the equipment or lighting to show what you are reviewing. please, please have SOME idea what you are going to say and SAY it. think like someone who doesn't have the product and answer questions that person might come up with. and most of all, don't do a review to show how wonderfully you can vape. we all know what vapor looks like and don't need minutes of watching a reviewer vape, vape, vape.
whew, now I feel better........:p

novabroadcasting.org hosts live streams for vapers if you're interested in doing live shows and interacting with people in the chat room and with other people on cam. bust most of us look to youtube for reviews or ECF forums.

There's only so much to be covered about a device. A mod is a mod is a mod, you can only cover the features it has and doesn't have, build quality etc. Most of the time I see people talk about the mods features etc and what a great value it is blah blah. But you never really see somebody telling you how to get the best experience from the mod/atty except for those sub-ohm cloud chasing videos. But I don't want to do sub-ohm and I've found I can get clouds that more then suffice with 2+ ohms.

Coil building videos have been done to death, but there's not alot of good welcome to coil building videos that really cover everything with helpful tips and tricks and proper use of an ohm measurement tool.

And like I said for liquid reviews:
Flavor notes on inhale/exhale and aftertaste.
Throat Hit at xx/xx blend and xx watts
Wattage effects on flavor
How long it's been steeped for.

I've been trying and trying to find a liquid review person with a good pallate that really gives a good descriptive review of liquids. It's mainly just "*oh face* this is really good and tastes like xx flavor and so much vapor!" They don't give you a detailed breakdown of the liquid itself.

Afterthought: Please dear god don't put a 2 minute intro showcasing how super uber awesome your video text effect skills are or you'll be instantly labeled a useless tool.

Thanks guys! This is exactly the stuff I'm looking for. I want to do reviews that you WANT to watch lol. @EmeraldLeo1982 thanks for the specifics. I have done a few liquid reviews here on ECF that seem to be what you're looking for. Do you mind taking a look and giving me some feedback? Links below...

When reviewing mods/batteries/vv-vw devices and such, I would really appreicate the reviewer not just going into what it will or won't do for the sub-ohm crowd and highly advanced vapers. I'd like, even if it's just a few sentences or so, for a reviewer to state how it would work for someone that uses delivery devices like 1.8-2.8 ohm coils/heads, basic clearomizers and carto-tanks.

My absolute fav mod (right now, anyway!) got a truly rotten review as it didn't do so well on very low resistance coils. However it's great for what I do and if I hadn't just stumbled across it, I would have missed out on something that works very well for me.

Long winded way of saying to not forget the newer or more 'streamlined' vapers out here. Hope any of that made sense!

If you have been reviewing and in the industry, you should know about video reviews. there are only about 10 million on you tube. this sounds like more of a post to get people to watch your reviews.

Always gotta have a troll lolol. I don't have any reviews for you to watch dude. Pay attention first, troll after. As I said... I haven't started doing this yet. Just did a few reviews of stuff I bought for myself. This was a request for people to tell me what they would like to see reviewers do better.

I hear you cat58. These are the vapers I would really be catering to. I'm a hobbyist myself but I realize that not everyone is into that sort of thing. Some folks just want a safe alternative to smoking. These people deserve educated complete reviews of products that everyday vapers would use. Most reviews seem really geared towards vapeheads and builders. That was a great point thanks!

The KEY to good video reviews is to have a somewhat professional setup of 1) lights 2) environment 3) good camera lens that can zoom and take very clear close ups

Half the youtube videos I see are very badly lit, go watch some of pbusardo's earlier videos before he got his lighting setup right.

Also, have your script planned and written out a bit ahead of time, as well as the stuff you are reviewing in front ouf you. I click off videos hwen the person is wasting my time going um, ah, and then not having what they need adn having to go look for stuff or whatever

And lastly, be objective. But also find something to like if there is...... I've seen some of the well known reviewers literally KILL sales (and eventually production) of mods I personally really liked.

If you must do video reviews, make it short and sweet and pretty please put the highlights in text below it. I find it very painful to watch videos of anything, be it reviews or news. I much prefer to read (that skill lost to the younger generation) than watch someone talk.

I'm not really set on doing video reviews. The only videos I'd actually care to do are tutorials for rebuilding atomizers or perhaps RBA teardowns. Thanks for the input @shakeytails and thanks for the video specifics @Racehorse!

Just a few things that bother me about some reviewers...
1) Excessive hand talking/waving. It bothers me not at all IRL, but on a computer screen it bugs the tar out of me.
2) Jacked up fingernails. Overgrown cuticles look painful and they make special scissors to take care of that. You WILL be doing close-ups, we see this in minute detail. I know this sounds prissy and girly but torn cuticles hurt. I just want to grab through the screen and give some of these guys a mini manicure. lol
3) Rock-star intros. Just no.

Just a few things I like about some reviewers...
1) Keeping it real and not being a cloud/mod db snob. Reviewing a product is just that. I don't want to see what works better in the process or I'd go watch that review instead.
2) Full disclosure. Where they got it, if they paid for it, if they're being paid for it, if it was free. Not really important but nice to know.
3) No rock star intro. Just yes.

Just a few things I'd like to see more of...
1) Tips and tricks. Little things you probably don't even think of anymore they're so second nature. We want those too.
2) What's in your vape toolbox? Lay it out, list it, whatever. Show & tell.
3) Less rock star intros.

Get a manicure.... please...

AMEN!! lolol I thought I was the only one grossed out by nasty sausage fingers. I am so glad to see this!! I actually have very pretty hands thank you very much... and @glasseye I am definitely no rockstar so I definitely won't be doing rockstar intros. I promise. :) Thanks for the amazing amount of input guys!

To continue with the rock star intros, I could be looking for a review of a particular item, if I find the only one in existence and it has some bull**** loud deathmetal music in the beginning, so much for that review. And I really wonder why some people have longer intros than some made for TV movie? I mean the ones with all the graphics and SFX that last 2 minutes or more, It's freaking youtube for crying out loud. rant over ;)

Please for the love of god don't have a 30 second high def intro with spaceships and ninjas flying around while Europe's the final countdown plays in the background, then all of a sudden you get to see some guy with a low end camera in a trailer where you see men's underwear hanging off a lamp. While the guy is wearing a stained warrant t shirt with the sleeves cut off.
