Riva 1100 mah - Strange smell

Hey to all:

Managed to stay away from analogs for three whole days due to vaping (longest abstinence in 8 years, yay!).

Ran into a problem, though.

My Riva SE 1100mah stainless battery is emitting a very stange smell. Not burnt, but a chemical-like, electrical smell. The battery is not warm or hot. It won't charge because when I screw it in the charger the light stays green. This strange electro-chemical smell gets all over my hands when I handle the battery and makes my hands smell like some electro-static discharge.

The Riva came in a kit with another identical battery, which is working fine.

I understand we should discontinue use immediately if battery smells burnt or is warm/hot....but this strange electro-chemical odor and not charging has me befuddled. Any thoughts? Battery is almost new, is not visibly leaking and only has been charged once when this really strange smell with a refusal to be charged showed up.

ok, thanks zoiDman....I'll probably end up returning it or chucking it....

but....what is it a symptom of? I searched everywhere I could and never seen something like this before..Particularly strange that this electro-static smell gets all over my hands when I handle the battery but it's not leaking..

Oh well, ok...just something to report I guess, thanks.

Returning it or Chucking it is a Very Good call. You sleep better at knight not woring about it melting down in your pocket or catching your house on fire.

That sounds like a battery that is leaking. If it's under warranty, which it should be, get in touch with the vendor and see about a replacement.
DO NOT USE THE BATTERY!

It could be Leaking. And/Or it could be Abnormally Venting Gases. Either way it isn’t good.

I agree. DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE THE BATTERY.
