hi guys, I tried to do some research prior to asking but can't find what I'm looking for. Specifically, I'm interesting in knowing how the chamber size of the cyclone compare with the RM2. As you know, the RM2 has a pretty small chamber size and I suspect that is a factor for a great vape.

According to pics, the cyclone is roughly the same caliber as the RM2. Anyone know how the diameter/height compares?

My prior knowledge tells me that the RM2 has wider post and is easier to set up, and the Cyclone has the drain hole in the middle. Would like to confirm this as well.

thanks

Here's a couple of pics, Photobucket is acting up so they aren't cleaned up or cropped but I hope they help:

The RM2 is slightly wider, mostly due to the Cyclone having a waist, and slightly shorter. I think it is about a wash on total cap volume.

The hole on the RM2 is on the deck whereas the Cyclones is at the base of the center post.

The RM2 posts are further apart which makes it exceptionally easy to build.

They are both exceptional vapes, you won't be disappointed either way.

Sorry for the juicy mess, I shoulda wiped em down:blush:

I have both and for me, I really prefer the cyclone. I have two in service at the moment, and both drain perfectly, even the one with a slightly higher post hole. I think the cap volumes of the RM2 and cyclone are very close, so no real discernible difference for me there.

Edited to add:

The cyclone is just a stainless deck with no ceramic. So make sure your coils are up off the deck a bit.

Where the heck can you GET a BF Cyclone anyway?
I don't need one YET (not til I buy a REO) but I think I might want one someday...
:D

That's the million dollar question right now. Vicious Ant hints at something new and MOV went from 80 something in stock down to 0 in no time.

B2L, can you also post a pic of the Cyclone and RM2 deck side by side? Would love to see how the drain hole and the coil post compare. thx

Sorry for the bad pics, my iPad takes awful pics under indoor lighting. I hope you can get enough detail in these.

I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow afternoon with some natural light.

Anyone done a 1 to 1 comparison? Where is the Cyclops sold?

Taylor. I meant to write Cyclone , not cyclops/ My mistake. The cyclone is great and got it at Mountain Oak Vapors.. Don't know if they have any more or not but I would call them on the tele and ask them..

I wonder if the Cyclone suffers from random flooding that I sometimes get with the RM2. With the RM2, I get random floodings and I have no idea why. Usually it happens when the bottle is full, but I don't see why it should flood even with a full bottle. It also can happen when I over squonk or squonk more than once before taking a hit. Again, I don't know the reason for that because theoretically the juice should still drain.

Perhaps it's because the drain hole is partially block, although I took care to make sure it's mostly clear from obstruction.

Anyway, I heard the cyclone drains better, and the fact that the hole is in the center makes it less likely to get blocked by the wick. Have anyone experienced random flooding with the cyclone? thx

With a full bottle this will happen. You get a bit of auto feed from the bottle, and also because of this and the pressure difference there's no where for the liquid to go back to. If your getting that bad of dripping out of the hole, fill your bottle a little less than full

I still am not understanding how some people are getting flooding with the Cyclone!!! I have been using mine now for 3 1/2 months now and the only time it came close to flooding was when I wasn't paying attention to how I was squonking, had the device on an angle with the air hole tilted kind of downward and over-squonked. I have pulled the top cap on several occasions to see how it is draining when changing a PG/VG blend and it drains perfectly every time. I just don't get the whole flooding thing. All it takes is to take your top cap off and watch how it reacts when you squonk, you will learn quickly how much to and not to squonk the atty. I think it is just that simple. Make sure you have the device vertical when you squonk it and you should never have to worry about it draining properly. Mine drains fine whether I'm using 100% PG or VG. It makes no difference at all. It all boils down to learning and understanding the atty and common sense. Sorry for the rant...

When it's the cyclone I doubt it's true flooding, unless as I said the bottle is too full. What is probably happening is overflow from an excessively wet wick that's extremely close to the air hole...
