Hey all, great info on these boards.Want to get a starter kit maybe the 510 from cignot but was concerned about a few things. The harsh throat hit will it affect a throat any worse that a regular cig?The different style of juice seems extreme in that they have 26 mg,10mg 0r 0mg ,which one to buy?I only smoke when out for the night on weekends but I puff a lot of ultra or ultima analogs.I tried out a friends f"ifty-one" cartridge 8mg duo and Im hooked big time and didn't smoke one real cigerette and felt great. If I am only going to smoke the ecig about once a week but a lot when I do should I go for the 510 or something else? thanks in advance for any thoughts

As you can see by reading this forum the 510 is one of the more popular. It is my favorite second to the Little Chuck. The Little Chuck is a mod. model that just contains a battery. You have to oder which type of atomiers you want to use. It produces tons of vapor and throat hits.

Throat hits with ecig is much better than cigarettes.

I eliquid I use is 36 mg. This is one of the higher nicotine level but I smoked 3 packs a day. As far as using cartridges they are expensive and does not last long enough. But if you are not going to vape much it really doesn't really matter about cost. You also get more of a throat hit by dripping elqiuid directly on the atomizer.

Most people don't intend to quit cigarettes complely when they get their first ecig. It just happens. After using the ecig for a while the taste, smell and the coughing after trying to smoke a cigarette is just not worth it.

Good luck.

If you're just an occasional smoker, I think the 510 would be good for you. Between 0-11 mg liquid shouldn't give you a harsh throat hit.

The batteries for this model don't last long, so I would suggest purchasing the PCC (personal charging case) to take with you on your nights out. Also, a couple extra batteries and atomizers should keep you going for a while.

You will need to purchase at least one bottle of liquid to top off your carts. The sample bottles work well for this. If you don't like the flavor, you haven't invested a lot of money in it.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Since you plan to use a device infrequently, you might like a super-mini e-cig - something like the M401, M402, etc. It is simple to use, very small, reasonable vapor from a fresh cart, and mild throat hit. Since you smoke so little, maybe you should look to buy som e-juice from 11mg-6mg to start with. LiteCigUSA (LitecigUSA) and Rocky Mountain Vapor (Starter Kits - Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes!) are decent vendors for this model and the 510.

Vapor is different than smoke so it may take a small amount of time to adjust to it. For example, I let my sister-in-law try my M401 recently. She smokes occassionally, yet the vapor choked her up. She liked the flavor, loved the LED at the end of the device, but coughed on each draw.

The throat hit is different with the e-cig and can vary quite a lot depending on your atomizer/battery voltage/liquid. Personally I do not find the throat hit from the e-cig to be harsh at all.

If you enjoyed the 8mg cartridge you tried and it satisfied your nicotine craving I'd suggest staying with the lower strength liquid ~10 mg/ml or something similar.

The 510 is nice but some do find the throat hit to be a little on stronger side. Another three piece model you might want to check into is the DSE901. Their are also two piece models available that use cartomizers; Greencig, Vapor King, KR808.

thanks everyone, when someone says the throat hit is better with an ecig does that mean harsher or not too harsh cause its not real smoke?the reason I ask is the throat is a concern for sure , nicotene goes so well with going out so have no desire to stop going out with nicotene but dont want to do the throat a disservice. This sounds crazy cause its not real smoke but could it be worse for the throat tissue that real smoke?I hope not cause it works great

thanks everyone, went with the joy510 kit for $65.00 got the whistle tips like most on here like from Cignot .Any idea on where and how much juice to buy the first time out to have enough for a while so as not to have to order too soon. Was thinking from rocky mount 11 mg or do I get some thing stronger and cut it with another lower mg to get the effect of an ultralight cigerettte? thanks

The "throat hit" people talk about is more of about the texture of the vapor, and also how much it impact it has. Think harsh smoking cigarettes versus smoother ones.

The problem is that the general consensus is that more is ALWAYS better in terms of throat hit. So some of these devices/liquids are actually capable is producing vapor that's sometimes unpleasant to some, or at least takes some getting used to. I don't think this is a _huge_ concern, but you should be aware of it in case you don't take to it perfectly right away.

As far as how much liquid you use- general rule of thumb seems to be 2-3ml of liquid for a days vaping. Buy enough to get YOU through :p

30-60ml to start is probably plenty given your smoking habits.

Glad you went with the 510.

One of the things about throat hit.
There are two ways to smoke your e-cigarette.
One way is to puff on it than inhale the smoke.
The other is to inhale directly from the e-cigarette into the lungs.
I've found that the 2nd way is where you get throat hit.

By the way you might eventually graduate to a Mod. I use the 510 during the work day and when I'm out with the family. But in my house I use a Prodigy with a High bridge 801 atomizer.

I much prefer the Prodigy but there is much more work involved and I don't feel comfortable in Public with such an odd looking device.

I'm a real nicotine addict because less than 24mg doesn't do it for me.
