Today I received some dual coil 1.5ohm smoktech dual coil cartos from tastyvapor and put one in my 3.7V screwdriver mk2 which promptly fried the screwdriver immediately. I currently have a carto hooked up to ~4.5 V in a breadboard so I can vape while I look for another mod to use. I definitely want to use the 1.5ohm dual coil cartos from smoktech and am looking at getting a Roughtstack V2 at 3.7V. I am afraid that I will fry it though at 3.7V. Anyone done this? Suggestions? I've tried searching for this combination a few times but came up with nothing. I have a decent number of the 1.5ohm (multimeter reads them at 1.8ohm) so I want a mod that I can use with them. Thanks

Most 3.7V PVs should handle them fine. The only thing I wouldn't get would be an eGo bc their 3.3-3.4V and 1.5ohm cartos put alot of stress on the eGo and can fry the mosfet. 3.7V PVs handle the lower ohms much better. Ive used 1.5ohm cartos on my Epower with no problems, but personally prefer 1.7ohm Ressurectors. There are a LOT of quality 3.7V PVs that will handle them

Yeah Spitspot that's the impression I was under, but when I first activated the 1.5ohm atty I saw a little smoke come from the spring in the top below the 901 connector and opened it up and the spring was blazing hot to the touch and it smelled like burnt plastic. I wasnt able to get any more than the rubber grommets out so I assume there is some kind of small circuitry. Roughstack V2 it is! I am chalking this up to (probably) older batteries who have lost voltage.

Sounds like the most likely culprit was a bad carto causing a short rather than the mod. When you fired it shorted the springs probably heated up and contracted breaking the circuit which is what they are supposed to do.

If you've got a multimeter you can test the cartomizer otherwise toss it. You don't want it frying another mod.

For extra precaution I would probably toss the batteries also, once they've heated up they can be damaged.

Thanks for the info, I ordered a roughstack since I needed one. The carto seems to be fine since I have been vaping out of a voltage divider I built on a protoboard connected to the wall outlet, lol. I guess I will have to see how the roughstack works when I get it. I'm assuming the sd is dead but that's okay because I am looking forward to experimenting with different voltages with the Roughstack. Thanks for the help guys
