The rts chemist confirmed rts is leaving the business on their ecig forum page. I ordered some miscellaneous items sitting on my wish list. I would have bought some nic but it wouldn't post to the cart. I would love to know why this is step was taken now.

The nic you wanted is probably out of stock.

Yeah, this whole thing is kinda wonky. The chemist is the only one that has said they are closing. Everything else I have seen from them says surplus stock sale, and just on liquids.

between here and there
A few months back Randy(owner of RTSvapes) in his ecf forum was talking about how they were trying to comply with the apps process and he was doing what his lawyers told him to do in order to satisify the requirements. I am sure a lot of stuff goes on behind the scene that we are unaware of......in the FDA letter they sight underage selling, but do not show proof....at least in the documentation listed. The FDA can seem to pick and choose whomever they want and just send a letter saying xyz or be shut down. I think we are just beginning to see the start of their systematic shutdown of the industry......

May be the rts owner over reacted. May be sales have also been slow. May be the owner has managed to accumulate some earnings and decided it's time to minimize risk and wrap things up as Provari owners did. I ordered some long delayed nic from my other nic vendor last night so I'm a bit rattled. Gottlieb the new FDA guy has been sending ambiguous signals. That doesn't help my planning. Apparently they've finally put one of my vendors out of business so may be it's time to top off my stocking plan. I did my monthy mix last night from an MFS supply bought 2 years ago that looks unchanged.

I understand how it would be hard to see the future in the DIY liquid business once the FDA starts sending warning letters and threatens to shut down your business. Additionally, I may be one of the many that stocked up last year and no longer need to buy much for a long time to come, causing slow sales this year.

As I've got about a ten year supply of nic, I won't feel this as much as some, but the FDA may be tightening the noose and reducing our supplier choices in short order. Time to have more backups for your backups when it comes to sources.

cliff notes? aint nobody got time to listen to that guy for an hour

Here is the letter from the FDA to RTS vapes. (In written format from the FDA's website) They were in violation for selling nic base to a minor, and this is why no one is currently able to purchase nicotine from them..

RTS LEASING, LLC 6/21/17

In order to comply, they have to have a better system for checking age.. the FDA is wanting them to show how they fixed the problem of selling this product to minors.. it seems RTS felt it easier to stop sales of nicotine from going through for the time being.

I did watch most of the video posted and was left with an uneasy feeling. I will also be topping off my stock in the coming months. Seems the FDA is making good with their threats and who knows how much time we have and what the final stage will look like.

Looks like, at current moment, the FDA is sending minors around to vape shops to see if they will sell to them.

Sadly, this is going to be messy and get ugly before they are done (if ever). Wasn't there a large online retailer nicked on the first round of FDA letters - only to discover the popular age verification used didn't measure up to FDA's standards. The software was fine for tobacco sales, but FDA was using a different standard. A heads up maybe? Nawwww.
