Taking advantage of the sales at Heartland vapes was how I finished stockpiling a lifetime supply (or two) of 100mg liquid nic. At just $35 per liter (or $120 per gallon) and free shipping for orders over $75, it wasn't very expensive to do. Their "standard" nic was of exceptional quality, as good as any I found.

I personally believe this is why RTS is folding, their prices (even when on sale) aren't very competitive and haven't been for years. Combined with ever increasing federal and state regulatory hurdles, low volume sales might be the final straw/nail. Regardless, my very first nic purchase (120 ml) was from RTS, I also bought my first lab-ware, glass bottles and such from them so they'll always hold a sentimental/nostalgic place in my vape journey.

I have 36 - 120ml bottles which I figure will last the two of us 7 years. I'm 74, the wife a couple of years younger, so how is enough is kinda hard to figure.
Actuarial tables say you have 11.2 years left, and your wife (assuming she's 72) has 14.6. I take those numbers to mean you have a 50% chance of making it that far. This doesn't take any of the usual variables into account. If I were you, I'd double-down on nic.

I personally looked at what age I have a 20% chance of reaching and used that for planning purposes. I figure I'd rather have too much than wake up some morning in my 80s wishing I'd bought more...

How do you go about figuring the math on how much nic will last you?

I agree with getting more nic than you think you will need. If all else fails and there is no more nic to buy and you have way more than enough to last you, you can always come off of it and make some money due to supply and demand or you could sell it for what you paid for it to help out a DIY friend in need of nic.

Multiply ml of juice vaped per day times the mg/ml. That gives you mg/day.

Multiply that times 365, that gives you mg/year.

Divide 100,000 (the number of mg in 1L of 100 mg base) by the above number. That's how many years a liter will last you.

And with Heartland's sale going on now, a liter for about $34 makes it very enticing. I am pretty well stocked, but still thinking of grabbing a liter......if wifey will give up a bit more freezer space.

I'm pretty well set for NIC and Freezer space is my issue as well. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't think twice about pulling the trigger. At 65 I have enough right now to last me until I'm 80 and that was before I dropped my NIC from 12mg to 9mg. I haven't recalculated but plan on dropping to 6mg soon so I figure in any case I'm set for life.

I store my bulk NIC in liter glass bottles and redistribute them between 8, 120ml bottles as needed. This does really save freezer space and is far less expensive (Bottle purchase wise) then storing the entire reserve in 120ml bottles.

So at the moment I have 2, 1 liter bottles of 100mg and 1 liter of 200mg and currently have 16, 120ml bottles of 100mg as my working stock which as they get used up I'll limit my working NIC to 8 bottles which will recover a little more space for maybe 2 more 1 liter bottles but at this point I don't really think I need them.

Where do you get your 1 liter glass at?

I don't put it in a 1 liter glass bottle. I have a couple bottles that equal 500ml then I split the other 500ml up into a bunch of smaller bottles. That way when I need to pull nic out of the freezer I'm not pulling a large quantity out and defrosting at 1 time. I just pull out the smaller bottles and use them. When the smaller bottles that equal up to 500ml are empty I will pull out the two 259ml bottles out, defrost and split up into the smaller bottles and keep out one of the bottles I'm going to need and put the rest into the freezer.

FYI; make sure the bottles are room temp before you open the bottle(s). If you open the bottle before it's room temp it will allow moisture into the bottle which will degrade the nic. Just a little tip I was taught by my DIY mentor.

Just a question for everyone.. I get all my nic at NN, I really trust them and like their quality. Everyone seems okay with cheap nic from places like heartland, but isn't it too cheap? How comfortable are you all with the quality of the product?

I haven't had an issue with the quality. Doesn't have a taste when mixed. I know a few people that use HV nic. There are quite a few places that have decent nic base for around the same price. It's all subjective though. What I think is fine you may not.

The nic we usually discuss on ecf is of good quality. Personal preference tho because some have a bit of taste and smell. I've used Heartland twice now and thought of it as Nutty at first but that disappeared. Good nic. I've only used them and Wizards for the last few years.

I froze my nic into 500ml wire top beer bottles that happen to be blue I found at a u-brew store then that 500 gets put into 10-50ml bottles I store in a cut coke case that holds 9 bottles nicely. That 50 makes @100mls of the 48 that I use to scale with. That @100ml 48 lasts my wife and I 4-5 months. I store my base in a cold room and pour quarts as I need them Same with my HS tobac concentrates..I went wild last summer and bought tons, poured all into respective glass, rinsed the plastic bottle out somewhat with PG to get the most I can out. Put hot tap water into the plastic bottle, with a knife removed the label and stuck it onto the glass bottle then into the freezer they went.
I did a afternoon of research on freezing concentrates and found nothing negative so marched forward and froze all the overstock.

I prefer the term inexpensive nic. I cannot compare to other sources since I started with Heartland and was satisfied enough I haven't felt a need to look for something more.....be it quality or price.
